That formula doesn't seem correct to me am i just crazy bad at math?

I was operating under the assumption that the bot in strategy does desertions correctly. In its sample you have 10 000 curent pop, 5000 max pop, 3000 peasants, 3000 soldiers.

    The bot gives 450 losses.

It seems to me it should be:

    (((10000-(3000*.07))/5000)-1)*.2*3000 = 574.8

(((current pop-(peasants*.07))/(max pop)-1)*.2*(military units at home including thieves)

    whats up?

im guessing the bot is wrong, the formula your useing got tested in this thread like 6-7 times.

    !desert [maxpop] [totalpop] [peasants] [armyhome+thieves]
the prompt doesnt ask for #solds at home, just army home. Right there its already making a mistake.

Ok well I'll test script with this formula and see if it is right. The soldiers is just to make it simpler you could assume the 3k military units home are Anything

Is the max % of desertions per tick per type 20% as well? I don't think I've ever seen like 50% of a troop leave, just wanted clarification on the 20%

Other question regards clarification of order, so if in one of those examples you are 150% overpop and have 10% desertions coming of whats home and you have 4000 dspecs and 4000 elites home, you are saying if you have 400 soldiers you will save all elites but lose your 400 dspecs, and you'd need 800 soldiers to protect both (ignoring all the pez/wiz/troops in training calcs). If you have 0 soldiers you lose 400 elites and dspecs, correct?

We didn't test that in this thread, next time someone gets chained and has >200% max pop it can be tested. I dont think i've ever seen 50% of a troop leave either but its been a long time since i was 350% max pop.

Yes, if you have zero theives. Solds leave/protect in leets>theives>dspecs>offspecs according to what as been posted so far.

I do not believe that to be the case and hasn't been from my recent experiences in wars, they certainly used to, but haven't been recently.

Pretty sure they don't desert. You have to release them.

thieves count as part of troops home, as others calculated, but people haven't been losing the thieves as far as I can tell. I'll confirm next war, easy to check with accurate intel.

That's because you've been warring people that don't chain.
