To Rollback or Not To Rollback?

Since only reply I saw from Bishop when asked for a rollback was: 'Will not happen'
And since I think it's only fair to ask for the possibility of a rollback. I feel the need for this poll.
    Silly

i wanted to create a poll but seems no opption to anymore, i'd support a rollback but we;ve been shown we;re not listened to so this serves as only a showing of the communities feelings, hopefully that though will mean a difference in the future

    1) its against policy and game design. Utopia doesn't stop.
    2) this was minor, 2 ticks out of 2100
    3) it causes more issues, waves, hits etc all get rolled back and people get screwed over.

#3 isnt an issue if u roll back early enough and pause for exactly 24 hours. ie had u simply stopped the game instantly after tick 2 that'd be a 1 hour 10 min rollback with minimal hits, but all the effects get reversed.

similarly i do remember a rollback the age u could send negative solds & mercs. #1 and #2 were "violated" that age. There was a freeze AND a rollback so utopia stopped and it only effected the first 3 ticks oop, or 3/2100.

a roll-back isn't perfect. things like this can happen when you roll back

This is my province. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My province is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.
My province, without me, is useless. Without my province, I am useless.
I must attack hard with my province. I must attack harder than my enemy who is trying to pk me. I must pk him before he pk's me. I will...

I lost the equivalent of 600 ticks worth of income in deserting troops.

That's now 1/3rd of the age.

It's probably also against game design for troops to randomly desert.

Do what you want, it's just poor business policy for you to make changes on a live production server to start with, and then to decide that it's too bad for the people you screwed over.

True, that's why I believe that taking the game offline for some ticks (or if needed some days) is a better solution.

    1. Your companies policy is a joke, you yourself have stated to people that you won't rollback because it's "easier" to just let time tick on with the mentality that if you stick your fingers in your ears and say lalalala for long enough then it'll be forgotten. The more likely reality is that you guys don't have a clue how to deal with a rollback putting utopia time out by 2 hours and feel that leaving people shafted works out better for the company.

    2. 2 ticks, not quite, try being on 450 acres and losing 2k troops over half of them costing 700gc to train, having 20% of your military wiped out (20 OPA/15 DPA/1 TPA) because of someone not having the foresight to not screw with live game code is excellent. Considering with L&P I made 97 pezzies at the tick and currently sit on 2.5k underpop then I'm looking at around 24 ticks before I even hit max pop, without even beginning to factor the redrafting time and cost of training up well over 1000 elites (ignoring the +500 offspecs lost and +400 thieves) which alone is a cool 160 hours with my current income/build (+4k/hour) and turning off sci totally (real fun for a sage).

The basics of it is this little ballsup has shafted over a week of the age for myself and others in the KD, forcing us to stop waving and likely having to totally rebuild, so please don't patronize everyone with the 2 ticks out of 2100, which leads us nicely onto...

    3. Yeah because a 2 hour rollback of some people missing hits is clearly worse than losing about 10% of an age for some KDs in needing to rebuild, the fact that it even hit 2 hours is mindblowing that during office hours on a weekday a huge bug appears and your line was "lets just wait to see what happens next tick, oh damn bye bye more troops". The whole thing has been handled disgracefully, just because it's done by a smaller company with a little online game doesn't mean it's any more acceptable.
