Faeries don't weigh as much and perhaps also can't fly long distances. Also they are soft, as opposed to avians, whose talons would dig into the sides of the war horses and kill them most likely. I mean picture a faerie, it's basically just a cute little person with wings, whereas an avian is actually just a giant bird.

Didn't you read the hobbit? They rode ponies. Which are little horses... and I think it would look silly to have a section for HORSES and PONIES. :P
