    Fort calculation

Can someone please calculate this for me? I don't know how it works.

So, with 4.9% Forts, at 89%BE, I see this in Buildings: 6.23% higher defensive efficiency (1.19%)

If I have 20,000 defense points without forts, what effect would that 4.9% Forts have on my defense?

    Percentage Based Buildings = Base Effect * BE * % of building * (100% - % of building)

    1.5*89*0.049*(1-0.049)~6.22

20,000*1.0622=21,244 Is your new def, the forts boosted your def by 1,244.

6.23% higher defense on top of whatever your DME is now.

Thank you, Persain. :) It is a bit, not much but not bad.

311 def specs would do it...

What is the "base effect" = 1.5? Or maybe I should start a new thread for this?

Thank you, Bishop, but I needed the numbers, like Persain said (1,244) to get an idea what 6.23% would be.

Edit: I think I have understood now that what Persain did was the same as converting 6.23% into 1.0623?

Yes, it's just a different way of writing the same number.

If you have +6.23%, then you have 106.23%, which as you know is 1.0623 for calculation purposes.

Don't use forts to increase def unless it makes you unbreakable or you are a t/m. Its not a building that acts in a static manner.

Every building has a "base effect", ie the effect that building has if you built 1% of you land on that building and had 100%BE.

Thank you all very much. I've learnt a lot here. :)

Yes, Bishop, I was thinking about that...thanks for confirming. ;) Even if it could give me a bit of defense, I think it is too little (because of my low def), and I can use that 5% in something else I like more, like Libraries.

For those who like to see the final numbers, like me: after razing the 4.9% Forts, with 88%BE I lost 2,100 def points at 42,000 def points. With most elites out, the 28,500 def points were 1,400 less without Forts.

It looks like both options could work. Let's see if I can make room for at least 200 more def specs with Libraries now.

fyi Alazne, you dont run forts if you not a t/m or at the cusp of unbreakable. yea in yoru case i wouldnt run forts. However you also don't run libraries unless you have >500 Bpa, then its 1% lib for every 100 bpa up until about 15% libraries.

Yes, I have read that, but I like a bit of Libraries, in the hope they'll help a bit. :D (Probably I should have built 5% Schools better, but it is like we are busy for that and need results).

5% libraries is about 9.45% bonus. That 9.45% is applied to your curent sciences. For example if you have 8% income science (you can check that on your sci page) with libraries you'll have 8 * (1+9.45/100)= 8.756%. So the real bonus is +0.756 more. The higher eciences you have the better libs work. It's usually late age building
