When diplomacy fails, go to war! RK vs Stoners

In recent ages it has become more efficient to mail kingdoms and workout a mutually agreed upon time to engage and agree upon certain war conditions/terms to be met, much like a duel of honor or scheduled sporting event. This diplomacy requires a bit of tact to pull off some times and is sometimes impossible, just imagine the most skilled negotiator in the world attempt to negotiate with the world's dumbest man.

For the past few days Acid Trip was in talks with RK about a possible war, who would get the button, etc and talks fell off with no reason. RK continued to search for war while Acid trip grew, pumped and then, on Mar 7th Yr 6, waved from a significantly higher acreage and networth. On Mar 19 Yr6, Stoners sucker-punched the hostile RK while they worked out CF terms with Acid Trip. Not willing to back down from a similarly sized kingdom, RK quickly rallied and declared on 21 Mar Yr6.

Stoners clearly double hostiled and were hoping to catch us off guard, but we surprised them with how quickly we organized a counter wave.

So far it is a one way sapphire dragon on Stoners right now.

This looks to be a good war between two established war KDs.

just to have the other side of the story aswell:
we have been warless for a month. every single KD we approached or waved, backed down. we tried for larger kds, smaller kds, same sized kds, kds with warwins kd without warwins, anything, just to get a war, but to no avail.

so we were quite eager to get a war, and finally we got it. no hard feelings i hope, or if so, you can take it out on the battlefield.

    best of luck Roughnecks!

I do not agree with the course of events as they are described in the first post, especially about our hoping to catch anyone off guard. RK had a higher gold stock than us and from the looks of their intel were no less pumped. Their "quick rally and declare" confirms that they did not have a majority of armies out or anything near it.

We'd been PMing and waving every kd in range for 3+ weeks and were plainly bored to death. As OP states we did not have enough gold for a dragon and neither did we pull a full wave. We simply wanted to war and waved the only KD we hadnt been back and forth PMing with with and hoped for some action. As for RK being hostile I believe they had got a CF from the only kd that showed any hits that would make them hostile during the 48 hour period on the CE, might be wrong about that though.

Pming for war worked well a few ages back but seems like a dead end these days, we've PMed and waved basicly every kd within +-15% nw. People will just tell you they arent ready to war or whatever and then you will see them wave other kds for war 12-36 hours later.

No further comment as the war goes, just wanted to put my 2 cents in on the initial course of events.

Well, not ready to war you lol. We had some waves come through a hostile by slightly larger, numerically superior kingdoms. The tight and thorough work was indicative of solid war kingdoms, just tagged with kitty so I don't know...
While I like the diplo I'm sure most of us are use to the wave surprise.
I'm not saying RK is polite because they can afford to be, but they are polite. Good luck, focus and I hope an enjoyable war to both sides.

the whole argument is you guys have hit into an active hostile. and you are wrong, its not 48 hours as you said, RK got waved by Acid Trip on 7th March, which Stoners proceed to wave RK on 19th March.

Stoners did indeed double declare us. No CF was signed with the other kd that had waved us, and their hits started the same day Stoners waved us, and their last hit before Stoners waved us were only a couple of hours apart.

    I'll say what I said in the ingame war foums;

We're happy we got a war. If you like double declaring, that's your preference. IMO there's no boundaries to this game other than what the game mechanics dictates. Double declaring kingdoms are fine, and kingdoms with questionable honor is what keeps the game interesting and alive. So kudos.

That said, we're also entitled to thinkin' its a low move. To value our way of playing (one on one) above yours. To take pride in the fact that we don't need to vulture to win. Thats also a way of playing - and each to their own.

Now we've got a war, and thus far its been a clean and fun one. So lets keep the mudslinging contest to a minimum and just enjoy :)

I have no desire to debate that further. I have no quarrels with Stoners, they play the way they see fit, and I'm fine with that. Only reason I post is due to some claims here about the double hostile not being an actual double hostile - while it certainly was, that's not really debatable.

    As for war;

Its a nice war, decent activity on both sides. I doubt Stoners was prepared for a counter wave only two ticks after their wave, by avians and UDs using -hrs in order to get armies to return for a second war wave before Stoners returned from their hostile wave though. This obviously put us at a large advantage from start.

Roughknecks is mainly slow chaining Faerys and Halfers (a couple of UDs been chained down to 200-400 acres on the side too though) while stoners have mainly focused on Roughknecks high off undeads. Shelling out our Avians while leaving our elves and halfers pretty much untouched. As of the last few hours RKs humans have been hit quite severely as well.

Where NW was rather equal (with a slight favour towards roughknecks with 100k or so - correct me if I'm wrong here stoners) its now 800k in favour of RK. Total offence and defense figures are pretty even (slightly more def on stoners thanks to 6 halfers, slightly more offence on RK). Peon count has gone from pretty equal to a solid 55k (90k versus 145k in total) advantage to RK. Luckily for Stoners - peons aren't needed on UDs ;)

    Neither side has any UBs.

    ** Kingdom news report **
For the time from March 21 of YR6 till May 6 of YR6 - 34 hours

    ** Summary **
Total attacks made: 221 (16,257 acres)
    -- Traditional march: 197 (14,921 acres)
    -- Ambush: 17 (1,284 acres)
    -- Conquest: 3 (52 acres)
    -- Massacre: 2 (296 population)
    -- Learn: 1
    -- Failed: 1 (0.5% failure)
    -- Uniques: 78
Total attacks suffered: 162 (12,560 acres)
    -- Traditional march: 141 (11,793 acres)
    -- Ambush: 10 (767 acres)
    -- Learn: 9
    -- Failed: 2 (1.2% failure)
    -- Uniques: 56

Roughknecks have most of their core returning in the next couple of ticks. 5-6 hours until the bulk of Stoners gets home.

While Stoners deploy the questionable tactic of plundering OOW, I doubt it'll turn the conflict.

NW gap 1.4 mil, land gap 12k acres.

Do you get good gains on plunders OOW? I can't imagine that you would.
