    Lets talk Orc attacker

Should an Orc in a warring kingdom try to fun a full elite offense? Or would a mix of say 60/40 elites/specs be a better option?

I like the added ambush protection of having the specs in the mix.

    Thoughts?

I understand your point.. but keeping a full elite army is not easy.
The amount of income you need is incredible.

This may be a paper vs reality argument.

What build are you thinking of that would allow you to run and keep a full elite offense in war?

full elites, a smart move if you cant multi tap for max gains (you dont care about ambush there) is a main hit and after 2-3 CQ that barely break. Your target has to waste his generals to ambush that

The ambush thing is overrated. As an orc cleric a few ages ago the ambushes were welcome. My build credits were then inline with my incoming and I had still inflicted the damage on my opponents. They were thus prone to being fat, forced to rebuild the acres I had taken and the cycle continued in my favor.
Yes, go with as many elites as possible in my mind. This will give you the most bang and multi-tap reach. As an orc you heavily influence kingdom metrics and are designed for the purpose. I'm a great fan of undead and avian, but they are not in your league for back breaker attacks. It's why you're here. Mileage varies on kingdom concept, but the %'s speak for themselves.

More Ogres is better. In most wars, Orcs should be using their spec credits on offspec instead of defspec, and that covers ambush vulnerabilities well enough in long wars.

(Discounting early age) Entering war with offspec is only viable for Orcs with extreme off:def ratios already; in that case, the offspec are mostly dragon fodder that don't die to as many things as defense specialists. Taking a 10 mod opa hit from 120 to 110 opa isn't going to reduce the range of hittable targets, but opens more options for dragon slaying and ambush prevention. Using offspec instead of defspec puts more resources doing something useful rather than doing something passive.

Maybe should ask your monarch or kd mates and see whats best for your kd.They probably know more about what they need than others.

"The amount of income you need is incredible." -most organized kd goes to plenty of wars. each time war ended (lose/win) they have that protection that enables them to pump insane amount of gold (50% wage, build conversion, gain penalty from outside attack/op). so mostly, at 3-4 RL days, they can have off of full elite army with 5-7 dspa.

much easier than pumping/ idling in normal/fort stance

answering from your question, its good to have full offense elite army. best to have 10 elites per acre or more? with 7 dspa. after reach those numbers, train 1 off specs pr acre for drake slaying (though this one need kd coordination)

btw in using spec credits, it all depends how war move along. some situation wherein your king point you out to be fed with solds and gcs to raise your def to avoid number of taps. so you get to use those credits for def specs. but mostly it'll all be use for off specs for delaying your off points burn out

Elites:Def specs I generally run anywhere between 1.6:1 to 2:1 depending on enemy kingdom setup. Do they ubs that the .4 would help? Defence, etc. etc.

In most cases you can be hit with armies out, but unless your are an attacker that got huge in a war and are on the verge of maybe avoiding a double tap. The most likely choice for spending of credits will be off specs (which you release after winning war).

You shouldn't be sustaining elites during a war. If you are spending ANY gc on your army that must mean 2 things: The enemy has a dragon on them AND the next dragon is already funded and waiting. In which case, spend on off specs. The best defence for an orc, is their offence.
