crime sci is a mod to your tpa. Channeling sci is a mod to your wpa and to your tower production. For example if you are an halfer with 5 tpa and 1.5racial, 1.1invisibility, and 1.2TD and 95% crime sci you would have a mod of !c 5*1.5*1.1*1.2*1.95 = 19.305 crime all the way from 5 raw!
Chance for success in ops relates largely to relative mtpa or mwpa (for thief or magic ops respectively) between the opper and the target(with mods such as nw, cs, WT figuring in) so t/m sci does quite a lot!
The tower mod is also incredibly important especially with mytic no longer possessing *2 effeciency towers.
Takes your thieves or wizards, and divided by your land. That is your raw tpa(thieves per acre), wpa(wizards per acre). That raw wpa/tpa is than modified by science, honor, buildings, and racials.
It improve success rate and defense. But things like Invisibility, halfing racial, and elf racial only effect success rate, not defense(what I take from the terms used)
Read it as "success for defense and offense" :P
Science helps on defense as well as racial mods / defensive spells. So an Elf Mystic running 5rwpa, with 95% in magic science with elf bonus and Magic shield casted would have this as defense:
Mod WPA (Defense) = 5 (raw wpa) * 1.3 (Racial Bonus) * 1.2 (Magic Shield) * 1.95 (Science) = 15.21
Say you are at war and you have Magic Shield cast and you then cast Mage's Fury, it basically cancels out Magic shield as it adds 1.2 to offense but takes 0.8 to def (20% too off, -20% to def)
Mod WPA (Offense) = 5 (raw Wpa) * 1.3 (Racial Bonus) * 1.95 (Science) * 1.2 (MF) = 15.21
Mod WPA (Defense with MF casted) = 5 (raw wpa) * 1.3 (Racial Bonus) * 1.2 (Magic Shield) * 1.95 (Science) * 0.8 (Mage's fury deduction) = 12.168
With Channeling you also get rune production bonus so say you produce 6,000 runes multiply it by science :
6,000 (Rune production) * 1.95 (science) = 11,700 runes produced.
