Land is just a number. Who cares about it. Id just wish the dudes doing landdrops would get better at it so it doesnt take 5 ticks to get done -_-.
Also, this all kinda seems like someone just isnt up to date with the whole meta of the whoring game....Guess someone has some reading up to do ones are to win the landrace? :>

Meta; that's the word I keep forgetting to use. I was accused of playing this way in other games. Anyways, that didn't bother me, but I did come at Utopia from a more mature perspective. It occured to me some games are best left with a few mysteries undiscovered. Call it ignorance, but fun is the point.

I still have friends that have to beat every nano out of everything in a game. Once I got to stand back I could see it was not a source of happiness. It's why I find complaining about mechanics amusing since these are the obstacles. I use to compare game systems regarding what was more realistic or meticulously detailed because I knew how to manipulate.

Now it's more fun because I've learned that it's instinct. I don't need to know which race or personality is best by some algorithm. I run what I like and I land on my feet. I started this age in someone else's ideal and it fell on it's face. Same thing last age. What I'm saying is I know meta and my instincts aren't attracted to what's going on in the competitive field. There may be a better way, but I'll let someone else figure that out.

Being stuck in whatever meta does you little favors, just saying. Maybe it is obvious, but subtext I see here is: burn anyone not following the meta. Following meta blindly is herd instinct, sheep behavior- not men. Think for yourself. Carve your own path. Dare to be different. Usually great things follow. Sometimes great failure, but is still great .) That being said, I still disagree with LD being a common tool of 'foreign policy'. Reasons have mostly been mentioned by Mike already.
