I think common courtesy would have been for you to not be stealing gold regardless of quantity from them without CFs up, while claiming to be prepping to war someone else :p
It's like people that plunder or steal into my KD while claiming to be hostile, or war agreed, or whatever, I usually just full wave them out of principle regardless of the extent of their plundering/stealing
Stealing the GC wasn't good I agree. But the other side would have you believe we stole 100m and that it was coordinated with their enemies or just coordinated in general. My kingdom simply stole some gc from someone we didn't have a CF with. I'm not exactly running a slave ship over here this age (or really any age). So sure, there's always two sides to the story and each one will generally always feel justified in their actions. Not sure if this thread can exactly come to judgement on the topic or if it should even be discussed. With that said, I will clarify facts that are important to those that may want to know what is actually going down.
But why be stealing from anyone? I don't care if it's Emeriti, some war tier KD, or an absolute ghetto.
You can't simultaneously want the entire server to leave you alone to prep, while also having free reign to steal gold from any other KD on the server.
I sternly forbid my KD from robbing/plundering out as war dates approach, because I don't like inviting other KDs to look my way when I've got a war coming.
Likewise, if people rob/plunder out of their own war prep into my KD, I retaliate, harshly.
Yeah, you have a point. I suppose people steal the gc because they want/need the gc. But I think the point I'm trying to make is that GC wasn't stolen to purposely impede someone's future plans. I guess it gives someone a reason to do whatever they want, to your point - but the punishment hardly fits the crime IMO. But that's not a black or white subject.
sn0wballz, your kd went fort did a semipump and STALLED any type of talk at all and kept taking our intel. Any decent KD would assume you were going to wave us or raze us and therfore you made us train up. This action led to you pretty much destroyed our pump. As a smaller and less experienced KD you can not expect to get the "good" end of the deal in diplo.
Do it different next time, atleast you can prevent another kd to pump up for a possible fight.
Presumably because they were prepping to fight us, and we might dislike getting dodged. Generally speaking, when you're busy, you make deals that aren't as beneficial for you to not get robbed.
Or you use it as an excuse to dodge.
e: and emeriti, let's not pretend -- you were going to get farmed because your prep was terrible, and were going to have at best 4 less military per acre than us.
It's bad enough that neither the ~800k (what sn0wballz data shows) gc, nor the ~50M-100 (emeriti's claim) would have made a real difference. Turning down their science a bit earlier could have.
Looking at the gc data from our sot archive, it would surprise me if they were getting robbed more than us by any significant margin.
Here's data from 60 hours ago:
CR - 88k acres, 1.5M peons, 660k units (mostly elites), 318M gc.
Emeriti - 74k acres, 1.2M peons, 560k units (more dspecs), 136M gc.
And the gap grew - we were gaining about 3M/tick more than them before factoring for sci costs, and our sci rate was lower across the board. That's with full sos/survey data.
We have enough GC to draft....well, really deep. And they can't get much more than 5 peasants/acre post draft.
Their top calf had 10% the gc of either of our top two. Literally. And he had, I want to say, 24k dspecs and 12k elites, while our calves were much more elite heavy, making the ultimate training much cheaper.
