On Topic: Advice I will give is in regards to delegating.
Some guys are detail freaks, others are smooth talkers. Leadership should involve having a touch in all fields but don't ignore specialist who really delve into particular aspects of the game. Some good ones I myself look for:
1. Snatch News interpreter - Guys that can reap vital information from SN are invaluable. I've never been in a kingdom that has one, but I've faced enemies that do and it's easy to tell. If a friend is good at this you have gold. They can offer the information necessary to win wars you might otherwise lose.
2. Action Planners - I've noticed, in 2 high ranking war kingdoms particularly, both take action out of the common wave. There's more, but your SN interpreter is nothing without a mind that can distribute the correct type and amount of force based in the intel gathered.
3. Wave Captains - Bad wave captains are the bane of good players. Good wave captains are magnificent creatures who seem to read your mind and implement correct procedures smoothly and efficiently. It settles ones stomach to work with a good wave captain. They're also incredibly rare.
These are just off the top of my head. Good diplomacy is a strength but that's obvious. Some very few guys are gifted in all disciplines but most ain't. Control vs success is fundament to the demands of leadership.
I don't see myself fit for leadership. I'm very much about silent teamwork. We should jibe at a level where I don't have to guide, you should know to come this way. Or if I'm wondering I can look to you and know you're headed in the right direction.

I recommend learning the basics of every race/personality combo (no matter how weak or crappy it is) and how it integrates into your kingdom. Shouldn't get into builds much, but general goals of each race/personalities its strengths, and weaknesses that is a good enough being you should have your own ideas on exact build.
Reviewing the basics like chains, setting up targets, and how to react to certain things like chains should be also a good idea just as a refresher being you will have at least a few new players that don't know anything.
While it might be good to learn every race/personality combo so you can react to surprises either from within your kingdom or from outside kingdoms, but eh you might not have enough time to learn that much and so you might have to resort to learning it first hand that and each age is different so you cant nail everything down.
