Personally I'd say drop the minimum duration to 24 hours(same as sitting) and cap it at 2 weeks and if you need longer you can mail support for an extension. If support is fairly restrictive with approving extensions I don't think it'd create a whole lot more work for them. An easy way to prove that you're going away would be to mail a picture with your travel tickets(or something like that) photographed over a newspaper for they day(making it harder to falsify)

As a monarch, I wish I could cancel it sooner. 5 days is a long time - especially if someone drops into vacay mode unexpectedly. I've always advocated for a 3 day cancel time frame. If you pre-arrange or pre-inform your leadership about it prior to going into vacation mode, then everything will be cool. If you're some random who drops into vacation mode just after joining... the monarch has to currently wait 5 days to cancel and kill you off. 3 days would be a lot better.
