Personally, I never looked at it this way. When I'm attacked by top provinces I consider it something of an honor and an invitation to retaliate. It's the best way to experience top play without being a drone in a top kingdom.

Since I never spy tops, the idea that I can scan builds with the leverage of reason has always intrigued me. The short story is, if I'm hit by a competitor I compete. It's purely from a respect I have for top dedication.
