Love & Peace -vs- Chastity

I am thinking that if you cast love & peace on your province beforehand, then why is it that when an opponent casts the chastity spell, it has full effect?
Shouldn't it have little to no effect because it was cast after?
-OR-
If that is the case, when I cast love & peace after being hit with chastity, it should work vice versa and negate it... Right?

I would bring this up under suggestions as that is not how Love and Peace works, chastity means no peasant growth and the only way to negate it is MV.

Love & Peace increases your birth rate, but Chastity's effect is to stop peasant growth entirely. So L&P is still active, and it's effects resume once Chastity expires (assuming l&p outlasts chastity and you don't have to recast it).

It makes perfect sense given the effect of Chastity. Your post does, however, describe (sort of) how Storms work in conjunction with L&P, I guess, since they work against each other (killing a % of population taken from your peasants, whereas LP is a BR increase)

Honestly storms should improve BR, people can't go out so they just stay in and.......whatever the utopian equivalent of Netflix is and chill
