The Cavalier Club: A Discussion on Fair War Practice

    Fair & Honorable Play
The operators of the game aim to maintain the highest standards of ethics within the game. Any instance of inappropriate language, manipulation of bugs, or acts of deception/fraud can result in immediate removal from the game. We rely on our users to help us enforce these rules and provide an enjoyable gaming environment for users of all ages and backgrounds.

Players attempting to manipulate rules and quirks of the game in ways obviously not intended may be subject to deletion. Because of their nature, these types of circumstances are considered on a case-by-case basis. Users should avoid actions they believe are against the spirit and intent of the game.

Straight from the Wiki. Hi guys, DM here today to discuss a question on a lot of people's minds; what truly constitutes an infraction of the above paragraphs.

Of course it is easy in some instances to discern fair play; I like to believe this audience is mostly noble, upstanding ladies and gentleman that play in to the mutual respect and spirit of competition when pitting each other's team head to head, but this being the amazing socio-political sandbox that it is, there may be some questions you may have, old players and new.

Look no further! This Q&A format thread is all about an open forum for all your examples and questions you would love to see the Lords and players alike weigh in on as they see fit. So keep them clean, thoughtful, legitimate and describe for them the scenario for which you find yourself feeling grey and let's see what they think :D

The following is for reference and entertainment purposes. This is not an official form of game support. If you have any questions or concerns for the support staff directly, please contact them for information and resolution concerning issues with the game and its policies.

****No Grandtstanding or Trolling please. Let's Have fun and stay informed!!!*******

    To get the ball rolling;

A Monarch looking to arrange a war with another, starts a correspondence regarding terms for the duration of the War. If this Monarch were to negotiate disallowing the attack Massacre and the rogue operation Assassinate Wizards for both KDs, being that the restrictions apply to both, would it be considered an infraction in the spirit of competition or considered an advantage that would dictate the outcome?

Anything besides let's war, can be considered fake or setup. Having any silly terms leaves you open to being punished. Played this game for a long time and never had silly terms attached to any war I have been in.

@Coldhearted, sorry hun, that wasn't in the form of a question. Let's hear the Lords weigh in on all you players out there who have any examples or questions for them when and if they have the time to respond! :D

Yes illegal. Because what if I was setting up relative cows for my next war? This war is just to secure safe exploration which I might've done before declare. I'm now using the mechanics in a manner to abuse the advantages of war.

I'm with Coldhearted with the exception that I'm warmhearted.

Though, I don't mind a min-time acre, honor contest war. These are more like tournament wars than the butchery I'm use to.

Guys.. I thank you for your answers >.<, you're missing the point of the thread. DO I really have to point out that it's a loaded question and just given as an example to give other posters, maybe newer ones, a template on what could be an infraction?

Owners/devs come and go. Trying to work the system, mechanics or whatever is against the spirit of the game no matter who owns It. I see AOD sits around thinking about ways to abuse war mechanics. ;)

I never do war terms, hell I even avoid "agreed wars". I simply go around waving kingdoms until some one declares. I never get actioned by the admins with my practices :)

The only terms I've ever agreed to was no dragons and no pk, where my definition of pk would be to hit to 0 acres if it ever came up which it did not. The dragon part is mostly because kingdoms where I played had the capacity to send either 0 or 1 dragon during a war, and if someone started one the other side would know and counter right away.

I don't like the no hits below xxx acres or min time withdrawal for the kingdom behind in acres or the kingdom up xxx acres after min time wins. This is abuseable mechanics that I've never agreed to when someone suggested them since I want to play to win not to be up xxx acres at mintime war since that is not nesesarily the same as proving that you won the war.

I just want to point out 2 things

    1. If you aren't predetermining the outcome of the war or abusing war protection for some other motive, then war terms are most likely not going to get you in trouble, even if they're a little strange.

    2. Outside of building a bad reputation and possibly have angry people razing into your wars, you can break war terms if you think they're too silly to abide to.

And we have the input of one of our moderators! Thank you @Palem! :

Might be my fault, but me thinks the comprehension of the OP is lacking. Maybe I should rewrite it. Anyway, lets try and make this more a Q&A than a player opinion thread, I don't have to tell you all there are a lot of threads out there for that lol. Leave your examples and questions here and let's see if we can get some Admins to answer! :D

Fair and Honorable play vs enough to warrant punishment from the devs who are trying to clean up this game is different. You people are like little kids always trying to push the boundaries. How about learn how to play the game without cheating. How about fight wars straight up without shady tactics. I understand AOD, Spartans and a few others have no concept of this but they Should. I guess it's too hard for some to actually become good at the game.

Question: Scenario: 2 KDs agree to a War Proposal at a set date, say 36 hours in the future, and KD A decides to Massacre the TMs from KD B, ~24hrs before the agreed time, before builds are changed. KD B sees this as a Deal Break, clearly taking advantage of knowing KD B's timeline, KD A has sabotaged their ability to be prepared for war. KD A proceeds to wave KD B at the agreed time, instead of sending war proposal. Is KD A acting shady and dishonorable?
