If the goal is to move away from "small kingdoms"

Screw that forced merger idea, or even manual mergers during the age. What should be changed is the allocation system. Currently almost full kds get the "randoms" frequently and small kingdoms below 10 provs dont get a single prov. That seems so contraproductive at the same time you desire is to have larger kingdoms but have mechanics stopping small kingdoms recieving players.

Thats always confused me also. Its defeating the purpose of getting new people into the kds that need them,Most of the time the new monarchs dont have contacts or know how to recruit people. The kds with 20-22 people recruit mostly anyhow.

Well I very much doubt that new players want to get tossed into a farmout ghetto. They'll either end up in 10 player kingdoms that has absolutely no ability to play, or they'll end up in a 5-10 player kingdom that's running massive provinces in some sort of griefer campaign. I'm not so sure it's a great idea to fill up smaller kingdoms first, it's more likely to give those new players a terrible experience and drive them away from the game.

Why are you even posting when you're unfamiliar with current Utopia?

While I might have exaggerated a fair bit with "massive"(ever since personal pool made explorers unfeasible) I seem to recall these sort of kingdoms being around last age and I doubt it's changed very much in an age.
Most of the less than 10 player kingdoms seems to be there by choice rather than circumstance.

No 10 man 'griefer' kingdom has existed until Sparta/MEGA. You are just spreading disinformation against a segment of the player base that chooses to play in small groups, and equating high skill (mechanics knowledge, activity) play with griefing?

I will grant you that Mike's kd might meet thr standards for griefing, but again, a single kingdom and one of maybe 3? 4? in three ages.
