Are you a monarch, if so, where?

What does a monarch feel is the best way to overthrow a monarch?

Monarchy is a popularity contest in most kingdoms. If you want to overthrow a monarch, you just have to be more popular! But bear in mind, if you succeed, and are less effective than them, it will all come back to you in the end. So if you are trying to overthrow your monarch, make sure you really are more suited to the job than that person. I would also not suggest doing it during the age unless they truly are completely incompetent. Be prepared for the fall-out, and if it's not a friendly exchange, be ready for a civil war.

So basically - Make sure you are more suited to the job, and everyone sees that. Then consider all the ramifications of overthrowing a potentially hostile player.

Greetings Utopians! Our first question! Yay!

@Folle if you were referring to me, no I am not a Monarch myself, my socialist totalitarian ideologies don't really jive in a democratic setting xD. I'm better suited as the war-time tactical advisor in my KD. Thank you for being our first questionnaire! :D
@Luckysports thank you for your insights on rebellion and competent leadership! :D

Are coups very popular? Not sure tbh, but feel free to continue the discussion or ask questions on other topics viewers, here on Ask a Monarch!

@Folle & @LuckySports - In my Monarch days I overthrew my Kingdom Monarch. As LuckySports suggests it's best not to do it mid-age. Our previous Monarch was not unfit at all, I just thought I could do it better and I wanted the job very badly. I was able to perform similarly (or better some ages) consistently and the Kingdom saw me as a reliable strategy person. I was able to lead by example mostly and when it came time I asked for Monarchy during freeze time, was able to influence players to vote me in and that was that. There was an age or two where the previous Monarch was voted back in and we went back and forth because we both had a mutual respect for each other as players. We continued playing together until I moved into Brute Force.

My advice is lead by example, know what you're doing and show others that you know what you're doing by proving it. When it comes time to vote a Monarch in Freeze you present your argument why you want to be Monarch and what you can offer the Kingdom by being it's leader. If they believe in you then it's time to step up to the challenge!

I have to agree with this, people will be a lot more willing to do what is asked of them, if you show you are willing to do what you ask. If you can't get your hands dirty with your troops, they are going to be a lot less likely to dirty their hands for you.

@Zombies - I can't say I have seen a lot of monarchs overthrown in my time. I played a lot in my younger days in an honor whoring kingdom, and never had any aspirations to lead, though I do remember leading once or twice in more ghetto kingdoms. I only recently started playing again, and usually end up leading more because I'm the only competent player willing to do it (10 years in my career means I get a lot of leadership experience whether I want it or not!). I lean heavily on my top players, to help fill in my knowledge gaps and to make sure I don't overlook an important detail.

As a monarch back in Battlefield days I never over threw a monarch in my kingdom, just went up the ranks of accession due to activity and knowledge, when the old monarch takes a break. I have helped overthrow monarchs in other kingdoms, only when others ask for help. In my current kingdom, this is my first age being a monarch again. Been Steward a lot over the past 8 ages in two different kingdoms. However, there are a lot of previous Monarchs in my kingdom, we have all taken breaks and take turns with things. It helps having a lot of good stewards and previous monarchs to rely on. Having a good council and listening to the kingdom and providing knowledge, advice and assistance keeps you relevant. We don't all know the answers to everything, but we will do the leg work, look into it and do the formulas, if needed, to get them an answer. I like this thread, and hopefully more people have good questions and more people share their knowledge.

Being open minded, popular, fair and resourceful are all good traits to leading a KD, and a lack thereof can always lead to a coup d'etat, but what would the day to day of leadership entail? With War proposals, Ritual casting, training pumps, inter and intra KD politics on the front of most leaders's minds, what does a week(Utopian month) look and feel like to an experienced Monarch?

Discuss! and Viewers! Feel free to present your own questions here at Ask a Monarch! :D

Patiance is the key. You have to wait for the right moment. First assemble some followers. Second use them to discredit the current monarch in front of the team. Call him/her out on every decision. Does he cf when getting waved, argue that he should have fought. Does he fight when getting waved, argue that he throws the kingdom into wars he can't win. Now that you've underminded his position, wait for the right time to strike. If your monarch gets deep chained in a war, waste no opertunity to razekill him using your followers. If intra razekilled, he doest come back. Now your kingdom is in a though spot. In war and no leader. Properbly divided by the intra razekilling. Now it is time to step in. Present yourself as the only true option for monarchy. You are the middle ground between those loyal to the previous monarch and the ones who revolted.

I'm not a monarch just a steward/council member. I have the option to be a monarch but being one takes too much time. The most important thing about being monarch is creating and maintaining organization - from intel storing platform that everyone can use to removing inactives. You really need to search and group with people who are willing to help you - war tactic/strategies can be done by almost anyone good in the game but efficient organization - that's the real work.
In peace time you need to keep ppl interested in the game - prolong periods without war can harm if you are a KD that likes to war and maintain activity mostly during war, in war you need to keep track when are ppl's army coming home and be online or set someone familiar with the strategy to be online.

As some people say - being a monarch is unpaid job. Don't try to do it alone group with others :).

P.S. something most are kinda afraid to try(I think) - double monarchy!

Double monarchy was something used way back when, I had used it a lot in Battlefield days. Back when monarchs had bonuses too. If someone was getting waved, switch them to king real quick and get a bounce. Nowadays the stewards can do everything, really don't need double monarchy anymore. For those curious, you split the votes so that the king has the tie breaking vote. When they go to bed they switch to the other guy, and when he comes back he votes himself again. Monarch can change picture, kingdom name and can see hostile meter. Those are the only advantages he has over a steward and thanks to munkbot you can have a command for meter so really only two advantages over a steward. Why the death of dual monarchy, due to the lack of need and relevance in today's Utopia.

I think what Bo To was saying by double monarchy is to have two people in the KD with the same level of "top" authority among the kd. In my current KD we have a counsel of leaders which seems to be normal in the top warring tear. Within that counsel(6-8) we currently have 3 or who make the final decisions. I'm not monarch or steward, but if I asked to be I would be. Though I'm not monarch or steward, I have as much authority as them when it comes to managing the KD. It's healthy, I think, because none of the 3 of us have overbearing egos. When we disagree we talk it over with the whole counsel.

Staying in power in the ghetto is simple, insure your loyal base are attackers. Your critics give them tms roles. Just kill off any tms that gets too out of line.
