We can earn points? Who has the high score?
"having fun warring when you have whoring and number 1 as a goal is totally pointless..." - Korp
"while I heart shiester when we both play serious and are in the same kingdom, I hate shiester on the forums and pretty much disagree with everything he says. Even he knows this." - Flogger asking me out on a date

The devs have made a decision to kill competitive utopia and have thereby killed my interest with it.

Screenshot and post it? I'd bet my abilities to post Taylor Gifs that she did not inform you that you may not post anything negative or disagree with people.

It's more likely it was said not to disagree with moderator decisions except via PM. If you have a problem with a moderator's actions then you are expected to take it up with that moderator (if you choose) or with another moderator so that we can handle it internally.

Moderating these forums is a volunteer position being performed by people who genuinely want to see the game succeed. They've been asked to enforce the rules with less leniency than they have in the past. If you're upset that Forum rules are now actually starting to be enforced then I'm sorry you don't really have much of an argument.

Please, one of your mods is the biggest troll on the forum.

Well the issue with that is that you cant just suddenly decide to be more strict you have to announce it or do something to make people know about more stricter moderation policy. Cause none of us are mind-readers. Everyone keeps just going as they have previously and suddenly they might get banned for it. Which will just alienate the community Vs you people.

Would you have considered a post saying "banned" as off topic? The gif is in direct response to his post and, ironically, the topic of the thread.

I would have posted this in the other thread but it's closed. Just curious here but that ghetto i landed in you know the one with bishop palem korp and perhaps steel . i recall palem was steward of that crap heap. I believe he pushed the button for war disappeared with all hit cohorts who all made zero hits or opps for 3 or 4 days came back and surrender and farmed out his bud korp in what seems to me was a fake war. can't say they were busy or on vacation as they were all super active in the forum. would be somewhat hypocritical for mods to have fake wars without consequence. i guess new owners now something like that would never happen again?

    back on topic
while at work a female coworker almost got me fired for looking at kd 6:17 seems there is a prov called CLINT FACE. which those of us who like to jump to conclusions or with poor eye sight looks much like C*NT face. had to get her face real close to the screen to see it was an LI and not a u. creating my own harvey weinstien moment is ok and harming all the young impressionable kids playing the game fine too but using the work t*at to an adult is not?

    make utopia great again.

    free bin and bart!!!

This is inaccurate. I was never the steward and I was so inactive that my province died of inactivity a handful of weeks after joining. Pillz and Korp both forgot that I even played with them.

If it was when I was there honor whoring we did have a nub accidentally give button away with mindless retals and were farmed for ~48h. Consequences of our no-rules rule I guess.

Yeah, Palem wasn't racketeering anything in game. He was a straight up player.

What prompted this sudden decision to crack down on all fun and jokes? I can understand stopping the personal attacks and blatant trolling but how does over-moderating do any good? Unless the plan is to cut down on forum traffic to save bandwidth?

Why are they obligated to announce that they are expecting you to behave decently? The venom, the insults, the arguments, the epeen duels, the bitterness, the anti-establishment mentality overflowing... it's sad that the community has gotten so accustomed to this kind of behavior that it doesn't even feel like the generally crappy human behavior that it actually is. Why should the devs have to announce "behave like decent human beings" to you? That "going as they have previously" part has had it coming for a long time now.

Imagine a town full of murderers who were given free reign to kill as they please, taken over by a leader who suddenly starts punishing those murderers for their killing, then the murderers turn around and complain "Awww man you didn't even warn me that killing was a bad thing to do!"

This community is one of the biggest cesspools I've ever seen for a game community. It's not a secret either; many revel in the fact that this is an embarrassing community with reprehensible behavior and shameful treatment towards each other. They say "it will never change because the biggest jerks are the only reason this game is still alive" and that's been an unfortunate truth for a long time now. Except now it's no longer that simple, and the thing is, the writing was on the wall for this sort of behavioral crackdown for a while now; I'm just not sure why many folks didn't see it. (maybe didn't want to see it?)

For the first time in over a decade, the game has admins who have shown more interest in the future of the game than any of their predecessors. That alone should have been the first clue that change was coming. Previous admins tried and failed to reign in the community and eventually just gave up, mostly in part because, let's be honest, many of you are just despicable human beings with no filters and weak moral fiber. Call that an insult if you want, get indignant and hide behind it if you need to, but that doesn't change the fact that it's a fact. While you might or might not know you're in this category, you're still prime contributors to the trash heap that this community has always been.

This game evolves in three steps:

Step one, improve the content. Check. (argue this all you want, but the numbers don't lie.)

Step two, clean out the rabble who have been bickering for years and years and years with no sign of ever raising their level of behavior to something even remotely mature. Checking?

Step three, foster an environment that at least doesn't turn *away* new community members, allowing for an influx of players with interest in the game and no decade plus history to drag them down in the mire.

The rest of us are gonna welcome this change (if it really is happening, and not just something blown outta proportion by angry despicables), because this community needs to start looking the part of an at least semi-welcoming environment if we want to actually increase the player base and improve the vitality of the game. I'm a firm believer that one of the main reasons this game struggles with growing its player base is not because it's a text game in a graphics world, not because some think it's poorly run or mechanically unsound (no longer the truth either), but because your average online gamer interested in a game like this comes into the community and, after sampling the garbage that is spewed and scattered across the main Utopia Talk forum, likely simply thinks "Wow, this place is filled with complete assholes" and promptly moves on.
