    The next suggestion thread: by Drunk Uncle ....

    I have seen my kd mates arguing over race/personality starts. With 2 decisions to make, there is a lot of strategy.
    (we will see you top KDs very soon, MUHAHAHAHA)

    I would love to see another 2-3 starting characteristics to select, to create even more diverse provinces/ arguments.
    This way you might also have 2-3 characteristics the enemy doesnt know, and may impact on strategies to target provinces during war/ reasons to kick someone out of kd.
    And it also wont be so mathematical (a little, luck, a little random, just like real life sports (Croatia shoulda won)).

    I havent thought this through at all btw, as i have been celebrating Monday night not at work with scotch, but... hereitgoes .... Monkey Shoulder if anyone asks


    Examples:
    moat: does your province start with a moat (+5% def, -5% attack time)
    religion: pagan (+5% attack time because you have to burn people at the steak, -5% losses because they believe in afterlife)
    culture: story telling (+5% def because everyone is always prepared, +5% time because tired?);
    laws: no alcohol (-5% losses because they walk off deadly wounds, +5% costs because alcohol isnt free)
    diet: vegan (-10% aid, +10% farms, -100% cheese (new stat), -2 political votes, +1% TB (why not, its BS anyway))
    leader popularity: meh (+5% protection from riots because he got voted in, -10%BE because trump)
    superstitious: +1% def on attack (you know, that 4% buffer will become 5)
    star sign: 0 (Because how can the alignment of stars millions of light years away affect your destiny?) But thats pushing an agenda.
    standard operating procedures: prayer (+5% time, -5% casualties)
    celebrations: epic (-5% honour, +5% fertility)
    faction: hate that term, but of the two kds either side, a portion of their def sways that 4% in your favour. (just want to make it hard for the coders)

    obviously youd have to come up with 2 - 4 for each characteristic. You would have to change the main selections to Race:Personality:R:C:L:D:L:S:SS:SOP:C:F
    numbers are also just an example, but you get the idea


    Imagine selecting more options, i am sure the core would find it fun? (Dont hit me OOP) I would love to argue that your starting decision determine you kd result. . .
    If you present it in a pictorial way it would work for babies.

    Other ideas:
    -Pre age scheduled wars so every other KD can follow/watch and cheers for. Develop celebrities. Build a comp/community thing like esports do. Maybe a voting/donation system can swing in the favour of crowd fav? Like hunger games. Could prolly never do twitch, but a (paid) expert commenting on important attacks etc during a war. OMG actually - this will allow every other kd to know elite strats and get better too. FYI twitch is huge in gaming. And will instantly get more player in. Market Utopia as the oldest online game still going (check that, as long as some guy isnt still playing chess with his dad).
    -Make the user interface prettier for the twelvies that dont know what a text game is.
    I had a student at school ask what the pop up discord was. I explained. He wanted to start. I directed him. He spent 10 mins selecting stuff then gave up. Literally so quickly. I am happy with the game as is, but if you want more players, it needs something superficial to bring in those goldfish. Actually, i found out goldfish have a longer attention span that kids.
    -Common chat client that runs through ages. Easier to switch KDs. Plus common porn thread so no reposts.
    -easter eggs? (No idea what, getting attacked for 314 acres on 3/14 gets you 1 extra bushel?????)(easy to code, just need ideas)
    -pop references (ooohhhh, i know. Downvote now. But Black Adder did it. Random text on each attack referencing the hit. Consider race, size, gain, type of attack, history. Keep it clean.
    EG: As a male ruler hitting against a kingdom of a female ruler, this is considered acceptable in 2018 in a digital form. You have successfully taken 120 acres of land. But you ran your army out 0.1 hours after they just got back! They didnt sleep! They didnt say hello to their children (they have an average of 6 now), you look like a monster to your children because theyve never seen you with a beard (true storry btw), and are a bit slow and will come back +0.5 hours later than norms. I recommend you priorities your children, and sort your Fn life out.
    -Ok last comment had so many hidden mechanics (time between attacks, #of attacks in war, beard growth, scaredness of children, sorting your RL out).

    BTW: I am happy with the way the game is run, i think you guys are doing a good job, i have been playing since 2000 (changed accounts), just spitballing here... Im not even any good!

    Yo, the game should totally expand with some interesting new content, not just adding/removing the same race/pers every few ages. Like add religions in the game... boat mormons, for example. (#bringboatsback)

    Two things are killing it imo:
    1. Bottomfeeding - there is nothing stopping top/organized kds from picking on ghettos and generally smaller kds, hence most new players trying to learn the game get farmed, ragequit and pick some other online game where said bottom feeding has 0 yelds or is punished (high cost, crap or no gains)

    2. Lack of a visual interface - older gamers could still pick the original layout, but give new players an atractive look... something along the lines of utopia kingdoms, ikariam, tribal wars, etc., take your pick... the numbers alo e , as a UI, make it hard to understand and without guidance playing isn't worth it. Maybe it was back when it had 30k players, but now, with the amount of bullying going on, it's not going to survive much longer if it's player base won't grow.

    I could go on, but I'd probably starve before I finished with suggestions and examples.

    if you want a variable it could just be governement type, either selected or determined by actions done by province owner, like attacking etc.

    I believe some games where you play as a king/kingdom lets you select governement type. A bit against more modifiers myself as they stack +5% +5% +5% to something gives you more than a total +15%

    I really like the idea of government type, but determined by actions rather than selected (maybe only actions taken out of war). This leaves it in the control of the province owner to some degree, but it's not as direct as selecting something from a menu. You also need to choose between immediate benefit vs. impact on government type. You could move between government types based on accrued actions (like X% of attacks are of a certain type), with an "anarchy" with no bonus when you haven't moved fully into a particular category. Government type benefits and actions could be something that only applied outside war (e.g., during war, you have "martial law" with all effects suspended). That lets war be on an even footing and players can focus on orders rather than trying to fiddle with government types. It also gives you a little more to do between wars -- you can tailor your actions to try and get certain government-type bonuses.

    Examples:
    - Anarchy (no defined gov. type) - no bonus
    - Peaceful (few attacks outside war) - maybe small income bonus, OME decrease
    - Vengeful (mostly ambushes outside war) - maybe small DME bonus, small population decrease
    - Warmonger (mostly trads outside war) - maybe small OME bonus, DME decrease

    Something along those lines anyway. If you keep it to a few choices it would be easier for folks to monitor/control.
