It's better to watch the video before opening this spoiler tag
First some clarifications:
Drugs are indeed illegal as the video claims but using drugs is condoned. This means the police won't bother you for smoking a joint or snorting cocaine. (Unless you're bothering other people) Selling soft drugs (like weed) is also condoned but selling hard drugs (like cocaine or heroine) will be acted upon. If you're carrying a small number of doses it's considered to be for personal use but depending on the circumstances it might be confiscated. If you carry a larger amount it's assumed you intend to sell and they can and often will arrest you.
The video tries to link the lower crime rates solely to 'legalisation' of drugs and prostitution but that's an oversimplification.
A very large reason for our lower crime rates is out 'socialist/communist' welfare system and minimum wage level.
People who can't find a job can apply for welfare which is 70% of minimum wage.
Netto minimum wage for a person aged 22 years or older working 40 hours/week is 1.269 Euro (you also get an additional 8% bonus every year)
You can get an additional subsidy to pay for mandatory healthcare insurance and you can also get a subsidy to help raise your kids if you have any.
This means a person earning minimum wage can easily afford:
- a decent house with isolated walls and windows and central heating
- 2 cold and 1 hot meal per day
- goods quality clothes (but probably not the expensive brands)
- access to high quality health and dental care
- a nice school for your kids if you have any.
- a car
most people earning minimum wage have enough to spare for additional luxuries like a computer, internet, a mobile phone, holidays, etc.)
