Science out of controll. Will it be fixed for next age?

Well I just ran into a province with 10.2 million books and 200% BE pumped. 37-39% offensive and defensive military sci, 77% BE sci, 48.4% pop sci and so forth, and its not even halfway into a normal age. Needless to say this new science system is totally out of control. Even crazier then the good old sick sci pumps you could do since there seems to me no max and no diminishing returns?

Here is the SoS just to show how out of control this new science system is-

    Alchemy: 35.7% (301k)| tools: 77.3% (27.6m)| housing: 48.5% (30.1m)| production: 306.5% (12m)
    bookkeeping: 25.4% (208k)| artisan: 0.7% (392)| strategy: 39.3% (11.2m)| siege: 17.3% (283k)
    tactics: 37.7% (10.3m)| valor: 2% (1.8k)| heroism: 2.6% (4.8k)| crime: 67.7% (164k)
    channeling: 75.8% (137k)| shielding: 1.9% (2.5k)| cunning: 1.3% (1.2k)| invocation: 0.6% (142)
TOTAL books: 10,226.9k (88.2k unallocated) and 0.0k scientists

What are admins thougths on the science system?

The current science system is great imo, just need balancing. I'm pretty sure they sped up the books production on purpose because it's a short age.

    Great?

I was leaving this thread for admin ... but while we are it - current sciences is flawed IMO - bring back classic books and BPP settings ...

I suppose Lords Jeff and Dave shall be hereabouts moreso at EOA proper.

Yes it is my understanding at this point as well that the current production levels have been tweaked to reflect a full Age in this shortened time frame. Still, more tweaks than just cutting book production in half are likely needed.

Perhaps a bit less than half of current book production, leaving scientist progression as it is, along with some adjustment to the modifiers would be sufficient, I think. adjustment to actual effects of categories(or even an extra counter-category; im looking at you GAINS sci) might be nice in some cases too.

Guard stations are a good counter to gains sci. We don't need a -gains as well as GS with the already modified war GBP.

The new GBP is def a good point. But gains are also buffed indrectly by attack times, so Barracks + a Ritual, as well as Gains sci ... Maybe just the gains sci could be nerfed a touch. I found it odd that they would bring it back in the first place-I thought people hated it. IMO its a bit of a joke category

Im sure it'll be tweaked. New science system means new issues but this age has at least shown that the overall 'feel' of the new science system is nice.

For what its worth the science u posted was 10 million.

    My kds top science

The dual-action system of scientist + books is probably causing alot of problem. Might be difficult to control, as is obviously shown. Reverting to just 1 direct parameter to increase/decrease, instead of two with labs and schools etc, would probably make it alot easier.

It may "force" everyone to pump scientists for 2-3 weeks at start of age, to be able to be competetive in the end... seems a bit boring with lots of denied wars back and forth.

Science system overall will receive a lot of work.

Learns will not yield as much
    Book production will be lower
    Effects will be scaled differently

Thats good to hear. As much as I like the idea of playing a dwarf on 200% BE with maxed efficiency on forts, tgs, gs, and rax, 40% gains sci, 200%+ OME and DME and 40 ppa after like week 8, it wouldnt be fun to run into 20 of them with the expropriation ritual cast and an emerald dragon on my ass...
