Quick question, anybody seen Kich lately?
I see him on MSN now and then but he hasn't been posting here. My initial assumption is he has turned into a brain eating zombie who can no longer type ^_^
Ziran, definitely improved, and I'm surprised at how quick you've done it. The post pace has slowed down a bit in Skysail, I blame myself for that, so how about keep up the practice for another 2 weeks, post another sample then, and if you've once again showed your improvement you're welcome back with open arms.
You do still need to watch grammar and sentence structure. It might seem like a little thing, but an improperly placed comma just completely throws off how something should be read. Here's one example.
The sentence should be:"I wish to talk to you, and your Queen about the possibility of changing the terms of our current relationship." He announced to his people.
I wish to talk to you and your Queen about the possibility of changing the terms of our current relationship," he announced to his people.
It's only 2 commas, but it vastly improves the flow and readability.
@Mire --> where have you been? I know I see you back around, reviving Tome now and again, but how come no more posts? You used to be such a regular to rely on ^_^
And I mirror all of Drice's sentiments.
Major appologies to everyone for my lack of input this past week or so. Been a bit of a zombie getting very little sleep. Things are starting to settle down now and getting into a bit more of a routine. Expect a post from me either tonight (more then likely) or at the lastest by tomorrow afternoon...
Oh you are indeed correct that many do not take roleplaying seriously, pushing out one liners with little thought at all. The bulk of those I associate with, and RP with, are at least semi articulate enough to pump out a paragraph of decent posting. A nice chunk of them, however, are more multi paragraph orientated with high attention to detail and proper usage of grammar and the like. In fact, one of the girls off BlueMoon I talk to frequently is a very big English buff, she went through Honors courses in high school these past few years and is quite good.
It's like with life in general, you have to skim through the mundane and look under the surface to see where the gold lies. The added benefit is that BM has a chat you can pop open at the top of the pages and talk with people that are on. I've never made a request thread for RP and people, mostly through talking to me in chat, have PMed me with RP ideas. It's nice, too, because the people you BS with you can pull up their names and see their RP history so you can gauge if you like their styles.
But, to each their own, and frankly I spend more time chatting than anything lol
Homework, unfortunately, limits me -.-
Whoa Geco your right when you said it slowed down. Its been 3-4 days since the last post. I'm putting it down to Jolly leaving on his trip.
Okay, so rant time...Ugh people on roleplayerguild.com are (can we swear here). The people are so retarded and only interested in one uping each other it makes me just want to abandon MY own thread! I modeled a Rp after this one and put it in casual and it ran pretty well for a while. That is until a few players decided to have a fight and just stopped play, which annoyed me as well. Recently I posted in the IntChk forum requesting new members for about two days nothing happened. Then all of a sudden it generated a heap of interest and and we got two new CSs' and two others possibly in the pipeline. (Haven't heard back from them) and the Engineer position got taken by the first new person to join. Now I am currently arguing with one player about him wanting to be the Engineer.
Whoa I was very lucky to not just have one run on sentence then...
Now you see my dilema I'm asking has anyone else had to deal with problematic players. Who keep harassing you and posting random **** in the IC. I haven't even barred him/her from the RP only said he can't be the Engineer. There's about 4 other positions open. I believe there's the Doc a fairly main position still open. There's even the First mate still open for god's sake!!
Edit: I apologize for any grammar mistooks up there^^^ =P
That's not to say all the players are ignorant arses who always try one uping each other. There are a few great threads one in particular is based off Warhammer 40K if you play it you will know what the Deathwatch is. Its really well thought out and the player's At least to me seem as close as anything here.

it isn't an IC post - no worry on grammar so much. ;)
That's good that we aren't the only little pocket of serious players. But yes, all in all, most people like one-uping each other, and even more like taking filled positions.
As a GM, just keep firm, and if he persists, suggest that a moderator might need to intercede if he doesn't take another position or leave altogether. Give him/her those two options: a) take a seat for the show somewhere else because they're all good ones, or b) leave.
Personally, being a GM takes a lot of energy and work. It isn't all fun and games or notoriety. I've done my fair share of being GM and Player. Both are hard work and carry different responsibilities. Although I find being GM more difficult.
While I don't condone copying a story from here and posting it elsewhere, I don't condemn it, because everything is unique, even if rehashed. it will be completely different, I assure you.
Geco, on the other hand, might have something else to say about it. you might have wanted to get permission first, unless you had already and didn't mention.
PS - Whenever ANYONE, not just myself, for a time or altogether, it slows down that much more. I have more posts here than anyone else. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a drop. Though these days it isn't as often as it used to be even two years ago.
Hey jolly I see you
erm I didn't use any text from here or even names. So yeah basicly its just an airship RP inspired by this one alike, but not. And...I don't know what else...but I'm asking myself 'When did I subscribe to this thread' *scratches head* stupid phone woke me up with an email saying YOU posted its 2:17am grrr. So if this just seems like rambling I have good reason.
Edit:Well his name was down the bottom before.
Edit 2: the guy who was annoying me before stopped cause you can make yourself appear offline so I'm laying low and PM people without him ever knowing I'm online. If nothing more I get breathing space.
On a side not I saw Geco and others elsewhere, mention Nanowrimo and I decided on a whim to enter it. Don't know if I am up to the challenge but there's one way to find out right? I got my plot idea in my mind already to go and my fingers icthing to be typing *wonders if he will be saying that later*. Wether or not I get the 50000 words doesn't matter to me least not for my first time its the fact that I tried. I would be just as happy to get to 10000, well maybe a little more but you get the drift. So Geco want to post our word counts here, no doubt yours will be hire than mine.

sorry folks, but I've been swamped. If it isn't people staying over, planned stuff and working late it's been something else. This week is probably gonna continue like this but I'll try to get a post in soon. Right now though I need sleep.
.........sigh.
Just to let you all know, I may or may not be on much in the next little while.
The pulp and paper mill I work at is shutting down and there is a lot of uncertainty going on in my local community and family. Job loss sucks.
So I will try to stick around, but truthfully, who knows....
@SoHee: *waves magic frying pan of sleep* chibby chuba ya woooo! There you go, now you can get lots of rest ^_^ Huntess let me borrow the pan from her stores haha
@Zir: I'm just as worried as you about not being able to finish NaNo. But ya, posting counts here could be a good motivator.
In terms of the slow down, it's usually a combination of factors. In this case, my suspicion is that we had a bunch of players drop, some of the ones who stayed are in a bit of a time crunch, and we've been on the island for awhile, so there's nothing fresh and new to inject some new life. But, it's coming ^_^ I refuse to move us forward with no regard to the situation we've created for ourselves.
Worry not, it's still going strong and I'm motivated to at least pass Archangel Protocols' IC thread to become the #1 IC thread on the boards (which probably means going 20-30 posts past its number because we had quite a few pure OOC messages along the way).
Dar - That's tough man... I feel for your family. My best buddy lost his job about the same time he closed on his condo and just brought his new baby home.
Keep a chin up. You never know (and I may be conceited on this) it might be a good thing.
The boards are the last priority for you now. If you need someone to blow off steam to, don't hesitate. My inbox and skype are usually open.

oh yes, and to the reason I'm typing this...
I am REALLY sick in a place called yanshuo with something akin to E.Coli. Throwing up and diarrhea simultaneously can be tricky. I'm laying low for a day or two more until it clears up. Might have a chance to write.
@Ren - sounds... lovely =P although not quite India, I've heard plenty of stories from my friends who've traveled to SE Asia and almost all of them have a getting sick story from the food, so at least you're getting yours out of the way early ^_^
@Dar - forgot to say before but, as Jer said, it's a tough deal. I'm doing the unemployed thing right not (I prefer to think I'm rocking it haha) but it can be a lonesome and stressful affair. I've never questioned my future so much as I have in the past 2 months since I moved back in with my parents. I don't really think what I'm going through is similar to your situation, but my advice would be to not forget about us and even use URP as an escape. Sometimes you just start to dwell on the what ifs too much and it just adds to the stress and worry, and I found coming here to write, thinking about my next post helped keep me sane =P
=P I'm scared! NaNoWriMo starts in 22hrs for me. I got a plot idea lined up it's a seafaring one, and I know a lot about ships having worked on a more modern day one as an apprentice chef for a month, but it didn't work out unfortunately I found out I suffer from seasickness. (Running my sentences again.) Yeah you got any ideas lined up... oh I did a calculation and we have to write just under 1700 words a day to keep up. =^-^=. Is this your first time too Geco and what's your username so I can find you there? Mines the same as the one over there *points up at username*. ICANTSLEEP!!!!!!!! itching to be writing. I so want to post here. Lol just so I can calm my nerves a little Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrgggggghhhh. Maybe I should start now early, god knows I need all the time I can get for NaNoWriMo
Just finished catching up on Skysail its sped up a bit. Also his name is Wintrow, not Wintrop =^_^=. Um there was something else I was going to say...

I'm scared as well. I haven't done a huge amount of planning, mostly because I think I try to over plan before I write, so I'm just going to try to write this time. It is my first time, so not really sure what to expect. And ya, I realized how many words it turned out to be everyday and suddenly my throat got a little tight because that length was like a standard essay in university. But here's what I realized. My last post in Skysail is about 1,000 words, and that took maybe a little over an hour to write, so when you aren't worried about writing perfectly, you can write a lot. Remember, the name of the game is quantity, not quality. Quality comes after editing in Dec ^_^
My name there is Vagrant Scribe (maybe with a _ in between, can't remember right now). And sorry about the wrong name, just sounded right and I didn't bother double checking =p
Amen to that =P
Standard essay in uni? Man that aint nothing I'm use to writing short stories and stuff for english...not recently but yeah... can you believe I told my boss bout NaNoWriMo and he ACTUALLY offered my a couple nights off for it!! So Cool lol. I might take 'em if I'm not faring too well. But you being unemployed at the moment should be able to streak ahead of me.
