Oh I know, and I did not bring it up mostly because I was going to address the thread as a whole about it. Inspired characters is more what I am going for. I do not plan then to be direct copies, but similarities will be evident (though I plan to keep them minimal). Sorry if that is how it came out, but that's the added bonus of posting this here. Everyone can get a say out in the open :)

And yeah, like I said to you via email I just like giving proper credit and such. I highly doubt there's going to be a book deal in my future, though I'm not going to discredit myself I don't think I'm good enough for that haha Hell I'd just like to publish a moderately successful book just to say 'Yeah, I did that.'

If it got to that step, though, I'd have one hell of a 'Acknowledgments' page XD

Actaully, LK and Ark, copywright laws do apply to individual posts or sumbissions in any electronic form, including e-mails, forums posts, and even instant messages, unless otherwise disclosed (meaning you acknowledge in some way that the information can be used without your permission). This copywright is seperate from the one at the bottom of the webpage, and is implicit to the poster.

So, there is very much we can do to stop you, if we can prove the intellectual property is ours, as with any lawsuit :)

Hey, is this board still waking up after the change over, I used to post on here a long time ago, and now, its almost as dead as I remember the Earth 2025 boards being several years ago. The RP boards for Utopia have always been a hoppin place, and now no one even posts anymore....... My new sign up that I posted several days ago is still only like four or five from the top of the page...... I think I posted it Sunday afternoon, and in all that time, there has only been a few posts WOW

Thats just messed up, geez I have a full time job, I play a lot of video games, and still I can find time to get into these boards to do a little creative writing....... Man this sucks and I was hopin my new thread would take off, it seems like a good idea anyway

All you can really do is keep posting and trying Dragon. Lots of former rpers have left these boards and there have been relatively few new faces that have shown up over the years, so much so we are where we are today. Part of the problem is that the committed few still on these boards are usually GMing the threads and in one or two more, so it's hard to attract people to new stories.

Haha, I kinda wish I could go back 8 years to those days when it seemed like every week there was a new thread and plenty of players to draw on. Back then I'd join threads without a second thought of how much time I'd have to put in, but of course now I'm more cautious :p

Everything has a beginning, and it is this new beginning which I think will aid us to continue on. With the new forum format, i think we will be able to keep some rpers we otherwise wouldn't be able to.

I think overall, the quality of the writers here are impeccable compared to other forums I have seen. The problem is always quantity, however. The other sites, overall, are very popular. Especially among the goth/emo kids who do nothing but whine and moan about their perfect lives while they watch anime.

Jeebus, I can't tell you how many 4 line speed RPs I've seen in other forums where all people do is roleplay crappy god like anime characters and throwing "10 million slash" sword combos at people. Lots of power gaming and the sad fact is, these emo/goth kids think it's quality writing to shoot lightening bolts, fly, and be impossible to kill. I haven't seen writing bad enough until recently and I have to admit that some writing was so bad that I almost felt like burning my eyes with paint thinner.

There is actually a RP classification system that was developed in the Yahoo Chat RPs a while back. We conform to a style known as T1 or Para-RP. The regulations for this stress detail and thought behind the message before its posted in the chatroom and messages deemed unworthy are ignored. It's also organized in a by-turn basis. Other forms are T2 which differs in that its less strict and T3 which is your basic one-liner posts that serve naught but to annoy >.<

Like many of the forms out there, though, the Yahoo Chat RPs have devolved considerably into "slave trade" and "anime high school" third-rate RPs which are basically outlets for horny youngsters to cyber... poorly. Although, there is the occasional chat room with 4 or 5 people in it putting on a decent story. Sometimes it's rather interesting to join a room as a spectator and just enjoy the tale :)

Enough babbling. GI, stay away from the paint thinner, yes? There are much less painful ways to blind yourself.

Also the only acceptable weapon is a katana. Any other melee weapon would just be weird. And everyone is pristinely handsome or beautiful. And a loner with a tragic past and nobody understands them and they brood in the moonlight and they're also probably a vampire angel-demon orphan. And they wear a black hooded cloak.

I was lucky. Utopia Roleplay was my first real introduction to the concept of roleplaying, I only found the abysmal stuff later. It could have been a lot worse.

Yahoo! Chat doesn't exist anymore, really, there's not more user-made rooms. They killed those years ago because of pedophiles or something. I got introduced to text-style RPing through them, and though T3 (God I remember talking about T1/T3 XD) was a style I used sometimes, I evolved into a T3 and T2 mindset. It's harder in a chat room sometimes to do para. I remember the last time I went it before they were shut down the rooms were filled with idiots and spammers. No one good was left ><

I had a simple chara :3 Half Saiyan half custom race, immensely pissed at Saiyans because they destroyed his homeworld when he was young, and with several cool abilities from the custom race part of him. Yeah, I was heavy into DBZ back then XD Oh, and his name? It was Kain lol

I am recently back to these boards from about 4 years ago i think. I really enjoyed it, and it was my first intro in RP i drifted across from utopia the game and had an account here long after my kingdom had died. Unfortunately my degree and then my phD prevented any kind of time to enjoy these boards.

Just out of interest, did people leave or move? and when did this board change to the jolt forums?

Its a real shame that theres not more people about, i was quite excited about my new thread (Vices and Virtues) i have written more than i have put up coz its still only a sign up, but if anyone is reading it but cant join, i am happy to continue writing it as a story if the idea has appealed to anyone.
