lol dar. ;) shadowrun... good times... ;)
yo lego! join up!
Thought I'd share this with you all. In trying to actually write a friend recommended this site to me:
http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node%252F402531
It's a non-profit called National Novel Writing Month and the goal is to have participants sign up and try to write 50,000 words (175 pages) in 1 month - November. I figured it was a really good way to motivate myself to write more. If anyone else is interested take a look, and, if you join let me know. My name there is Vagrant_Scribe
Oh man, that's an outstanding idea. I have countless notebooks of character sketches and profiles, outlines for story arcs, and world-building. Having the inspiration and fortitude to put such a cacophony of ideas into words is...difficult? What an interesting motivation to churn out a piece of work.

I wanted to do nanowrimo this year. :)
anyway, I'm in Beijing. :) Very interesting city. it took 20 minutes for the train to leave the airport it's so large. very cool. They're having some national celebration day here, so we coudln't see tienanmen square today. Tomorrow is another day. ;) anyway. check the blog.
Hey Rensha, if you'd like some tips on what to visit and so on, I live in Beijing. I'd be happy to give you any tips for traveling the city. Best way to contact me though is probably not through the board, so you can try my e-mail.
Oh you know you want to!
There's a great discussion here.
Is our own forum here inaptly named? Other 'roleplaying' forums I've flipped through have rapid, abbreviated threads written in first person. My sample size may be too minute to really formulate a conclusion, but characters seem to be fleshed out on the fly, in the moment. I feel like those few of us here write with a bit more calculated precision - highlighted by both the general length of and the time between posts.
Thoughts? Does anyone write elsewhere?
Hi all Zedpcee here I forgot my password to my old account so I was forced to start another. Anyway I'm still not ready to RP here, I think. But later i'm going to post a sample here or somewhere around here. Is there a thread to post writing somewhere? If so I will post in there.
@arctic pheonix I have been writing elsewhere, not because I want to though, you all know why. The forum I join roleplayerguild (was going to make that^^ a link but apparently you need more than four posts. Lol) they have three separate sections; Basic loads of one-liners here little effort put in to Character sheets.
Casual usually about a paragraph sometimes one-liners and more thought on Character sheet, there is an unofficial level High-end casual usually about three paragraphs a post and obviously more effort with Character sheets. Then there is advanced which ranges from a little better than High-end Casual to the standards expected here.
Quite often people will post with in five minutes of each other. Excepting Advanced where people can take a day or more to post. Also if you want to check the site mentioned above my name there is the same as this one.
Edit: I didn't find anywhere to post a bit of writing so i'm editing it in here.
Incase you don't understand here's a short synopsis the; the land is being ravaged by orcs. The elves and human who once had alliances have grown apart due to the brutal nature of humans long ago. Now the King of humans, me is seeking to restore it to save his race.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gandar bowed in turn neither too high or low, his smile became genuine. "I wish to talk to you, and your Queen about the possibility of changing the terms of our current relationship." He announced to his people. Non-existant he avoided saying. "Come we must talk in private, we will care for your horses and provide you and your men refreshments. After such a long treacherous ride you must need to rest?" he said questioningly
He whispered in Seirra's ear words of reassurement, more for himself than for her. He turned and walked further into the large shining keep built against the Lone mountain, or Ageuath by the elves. The elven guards went with a few servants who were to take them to rooms and where baths, food and drink awaited them. But for Ladul he and his wife would have to bathe later.
He lead Ladul and Mayira into a large sitting room where they would talk and get to know one another, if not to make friends at least make a working relationship. Eventually they would discuss the reason they were here. He could only hope that these elves weren't as racist as some he'd met briefly, if they were then Man had no chance and would be wiped off the face of the earth by the large Orcish threat.
Then eventually with out the humans as a barrier the elves would be attacked and worn down just as his own people were being now. All this they would have to discuss in such a short time, negotiations as important as this could take years, time they did not have they would be lucky to have a week. "I as you know am Gandar, and in this room we are not kings and queens, merely people beginning to meet each other. That will end our formality for now." He confirmed for the others, the elves, Sierra and himself already had all this planned out.
Zran - I must say that the writing in your post here has highly improved since you posted in Skysail. It is much more coherent and you are not rushing it. It's better formatted and fluid in writing. Plus, for once you have actually used correct punctuation. :)
I remember the post where you posted a paragraph without any commas and dots whatsoever. It was horrible to read!
Now, I'm still a bit confuzzled at times, when I'm reading your post, but it is way better! Plus, english is not my first language so I know that my own writing is a bit confuzzled at times.
Since skysail isn't my thread I won't say anything about that. But it's fun to see that you are so interested in learning and improving! Keep up the good work!
Zran you have indeed gotten much better. I have checked those other sites and I find that they are a notch below the writing talent that I have found frequently on this board. Not to knock them but they seem to be more interested in one uping one another and god characters then the actual story and character growth that is taken for granted in the stories that come up here.
Its a matter of experience I suppose cause most of the vetrans here are truly veterans and have been writing together (on and off) for years. What I like most about the stories here is they tend to be original and people aren't afraid to try new concepts. The threads here are the type of stories that you want to read all the way through like a book you can't quite put down.
...BOO!!!
*runs away, screaming becasue of her own randomness*
I'm a little teapot, short and stout. Here is my handle, here is my....LASER!!
~Some random deviation that my brother showed me one day, once upon a time...lol
@ Sohee, you maybe confused cause I took that directly out of another thread and its about the third or fourth post I made there. I know I've improved a lot I only wish I still had that damn pass word, so I can change it a little so its less of a disgrace. Oh well life's like that...
@ Drice I fell asleep the other night catching up with Skysail, just thought I would add that.
