    Lets break this message down...

**We have taken the server offline again.

-- Yeah no ****, we knew you would. The new code is a cluster f*ck of B.S.

**Upon opening up the site at 20:34 GMT this evening it was innundated with traffic.

-- Yeah no ****, everyone with half a brain would be logging on.

**We need to assess whether this was from scripted bots, whether it was malicious or whether it was simply due to high demand from players.

-- Bots- potential problem, meaning it was down for 3 days and your "fix" did jack ****. Also meaning you really didn't do ANYTHING the entire time it was down, besides play with your dinghy's of course. Then bring the site back up and shut it down because it was slow due to your own incompetence. The site only came up so that you could "pretend" to show the community you can at least do something right.

-- Demand- Obvious problem, which should HOPEFULLY take no longer than a day, like you claim, to figure out. But knowing you, you'll play with your dinghy for half the day, and it will be pushed back AGAIN.

**We do not expect to open up the server again this evening. We will update again in the morning.

-- Do we ever expect you to follow up with us in a timely matter, and if it is, is it ever done correctly or flawless? No.

Their Cray2 is way too old for this.
We should start a fund, so they can be given the cash necessary to upgrade their hardware to something a bit more modern.

Catwalk's crusade for legalized cheating was a stunning success, with ghettos and low-tiered teams everywhere losing their wells of knowledge to better kingdoms in the process.

Step one: replace everything that works.
Step two: blame the predictable epic fail on outside forces.
Step three: keep the community informed that no progress has been made since the last update.
Step four: thank you for your patience.

Just wanted to throw a note in there, - Because the new "live time" was not as scheduled as a normal utopia age start would be, it is my assumption that there would be less people logging on at the live time you created than the normal live time. So, if the server was overloaded by demand the server would have to be far worse than it used to be. So that doesn't really make sense unless you've downgraded the server.

I think the question is- what are other sites doing to parry bots?

JD - fact is, when it went up, first player to notice sent an alert to the whole KD, and those of us around tried to log in, I expect many other KD's did something similar

That was never a problem on the 'old code.'

Mad Scottish: I think that begins to cover it, but comes no where near fully doing so.

most of our players that hadn't given up on the game were in our chat room so as soon as one of us got in, seconds later, we were all furiously working. lmao!

could it possibly be high demand??? naaah, that doesn't even make sense. Especially when you look at all the new threads that popped up immediately following the latest crash!

The server(s) used to handle 50,000 players at OOP and only went down for minutes or at most hours at a time only to recover when player logins slowed. We now have 1/5 of that and it can't last for more than 5 minutes?
