so... does anyone need me to elaborate more to post? or... is everyone on the same page? I just don't feel like writing all of it twice; once to gabriel, and then again when he talks to weka'u, and actually, again when it happens.
My self-discipline is kind of wearing out and I'm itching to join Skysail... except that I don't really have any solid character concepts. -.- I'm trying to break out of a rut and write something other than wrench wenches and teenaged genki girls, but this is going to take real effort.
Anyway, while brainstorming, I thought I'd share some of my mood music for airship threads. I've been using some of these as far back as the original VotS.
Xenogears OST - Flight
An upbeat, soaring tune that starts with a short buildup segment filled with anticipation, that pans into the main theme at 0:39. It's a little repetitive, but it's also powerful and rousing and glorious and it is everything an airship theme should be. It does a fantastic job of invoking the adventure, the carefree spirit, the excitement of exploration and the stirring sight of a ship rising into the sky.
Xenogears Creid - Lahan
An energetic but lighthearted piece with some Celtic flair to it. The first half starts with an upbeat and perky tune that retreats at 2:26 to introduce the main motif, which is picked up by the choir until the end. It closes with a short vocal segment of laughter that leaves you with the impression of being among friends, celebrating. This song really conveys a jubilant, festive mood and brings to mind the spirit of comradeship and the joy of different cultures meeting.
Treasure Planet - To the Spaceport
This is what I like to call 'adventure music'. It starts off softly, with a heartwarming and faintly hopeful tune. At around 0:48 the piece switches gears and builds up a grand, rousing fanfare to introduce the main theme at its climax at 1:15. The crescendo that leads up to that point is beautifuly effective and you can imagine it playing as the protagonists unveil their Cool Ship or the clouds part to reveal the city of adventure they're landing at. It's quite short but then this is the sort of music that plays only during momentous occasions.
Immediate Music - Electric Romeo
This is music for when the big damn heroes ride in and commence booty-kicking. It's not swashbuckling music but it's still a stirring piece that conveys a sense of determination and epic things taking place in the background. The pause beginning at 1:12 throws off the mood badly but otherwise it's great, heart-thumping music perfect for desperate air battles and the cavalry arriving (literally and figuratively).
Good stuff. Regrettably, I missed out on Xenogears growing up.
Explosions In The Sky - The Birth and Death of the Day - not necessarily tied to any particular scene, yet thought provoking and inspirational. Most of Explosions fits this bill.

Officially, welcome back Bel! Shari, did you somehow manage to convince him to come back? Or did Bel just get all sentimental after reading his VotS archives? Haha. Either way it's always nice to see so many great RPers come back - things are getting exciting ^_^
I'm going to post again soon and outline so more of the world for Skysail. Hehe, I'm so happy how well this is doing. However if I'd known it would go the way it did, I probably would have chosen a different title for the story =P

He forgot to mention that he gave me the new URL and a synopsis of of the entire thread over lunch. In any case, I'm here.
Also, said archives are history. Bought a new computer a while back and the old one was recycled after I reformatted the HD. The only archives I have left are notebooks with my brainstorming in them. I actully found one for Ce'Nedra waaay back during VotS. She was my misguided avian who I actually never truely developed as a character. I mgiht give her a revival after Skysail has concluded.
Btw, don't sell or send your electronics with any kind of personal data on them off before wiping them. Some ID theft happenes that way. I'm not speaking from personal experiences, but working in cyber crime opens your eyes significantly.

IF anyone gets the chance, and i say IF, then i suggest you start planning to go to singapore right now. it is an amazing city-state. absolutely jaw dropping and staggering... It is perfectly quiet and elegant during the day. so clean. so neat. so beautiful.

by the way, Phoenix, I'm sure you have studied architecture here... It's incredible. If not, you should look up some buildings in singapore. blows me away.
