"Vote your conscience" is definitely the right message IMO.
and then his younger sister fought against Castro and was tortured. But the nuance isn't lost on me. ;)

Really the whole GOPe is to blame for their years of stupidity and hamfisted attempts to control the primary process through the most convoluted method possible, but Cruz is the X-Factor that really allowed Trumpism to gain traction. He really had to be ready to knife Trump in the back hard and come out with hit after hit to attack at his base. The attack ads he did run were some pretty weak sauce that played well to groups he already locked up, but failed to slice mini-Hitler's throat like they could have.
While I agree the 4 way split certainly didn't help matters, IMO the bigger reasons for the subsequent outcome and the worst possible Republican nomination in its entire Party's history are in my view the political polarization that's been going on in so many countries for so long (the U.S. is not alone in this), the historical shift of the party, the prolonged economic downturn and slashing of working and middle class income that's been going on for so long. In such an atmosphere there is ample room for a tin-pot dictator to grow powerful, where it doesn't matter who has the best clarity of mind but who has the biggest pottymouth.

    1) If you can't know what you are and what you stand for, 2) if you can't know what to expect for the people you claim to represent or can claim no better future for them, 3) if you don't know how to see benefits in the climate or environment, 4) if you have no selfdiscipline, then what good are you as party? A: Nothing! You are entirely worthless as a party. By the way, the same thing can be said of the Democrats and the vast majority of established political parties in Europe. The only reason Hillary is ahead in most polls is because she is not insane. At least she hasn't got Narcissistic Personality Disorder like her adversary. In my view that's not exactly taking benefit of the situation, it sheer luck, or rather misfortune for the Republicans.

To state that bankruptcy is a valid business tool, means you have the sense of a tool. ;) Had Trump been a succesfull business man, which he clearly isn't, he would have been worth a lot more than he is now, without the need of filing for several bankruptcies, giving into the account the starting capital he had. To state he's selfmade is a clear and blatant lie. And the latter is just plain insulting. Such a statement must have come a from a man who lacks the funds to buy his own energizer bunny, because he took Trump's business advise and filed for bankruptcy aswell as divorce after he raped his ex. ;)

The problem though for the U.S. is, there really is no credible third option. I mean come on look at the two other candidates, the Greens, or the Libertarians. Particularly the latter are anarchists in the making, just waiting for their act of the deed. You can't be serious with those. And the first, well its single policy and that's stating it crudely but nicely.

Which is why I have such respect for what Cruz did. I don't agree with Obama at all that its hollow. In fact because a disaster like Trump is taking place in his own party, makes it that more difficult. While I agree with Obama that Trump is unfit for the job, to make that second statement afterwards about the party is in my view yet another symptom of political polarization and its Obama at his most weak.
