Tariffs is our second greatest weapon next to our military. The world will learn to not mess with the USA in both aspects. You really think the president of Mexico won't buckle? You think the people who bought and paid to make him president will let a 20% tariff go into effect? Give me a break, he is only refusing to pay for the wall to save face. They will pay for the wall or commit economic suicide. Also yes I am ok paying a little more for goods if made in the USA. 😉

That would be national suicide. Even if we weren't in turn invaded on all sides, we'd be economically exiled for the rest of the world.....maybe not North Korea.
Oh and btw, Trump is on vacation, 2 weeks into his job. I know how much you hate presidents taking vacations and golfing, so I thought I'd keep you informed

I would never suggest a military take over of Mexico. Trump has the right idea with tariffs though and he will be proven right. Just give it time ;)

You do understand if you go to Mexico illegally they put you in prison. By the way there prisons would be considered torture in the USA. Then on top of that you have to pay a fine and pay the tab to ship you home. You can't just go to Mexico and live. Trump is only saying prevent them from coming here illegally. You guys have absolutely no understanding of economics or world Trade. It actually makes me laugh every time I read in this thread. Nothing Trump is doing is bad for American economy and will only improve middle class Americans income. Absolutely no down side you can point to besides Trump is mean.
Forcing middle America to pay higher mortgage rates is good middle America? Forcing Americans to pay 20% more on Mexican imports is good for middle America?
Off hand I legitimately can't think of one executive order he's made that actually benefits middle class Americans in any direct way. I guess maybe trying to repeal the ACA to lower insurance rates is supposed to help, but weighed against the thousands of middle class/poor Americans that will most likely lose their health insurance that seems like a push at best

I will explain how a 20% tariffs will help middle America and America. Let's use T-shirts as a example. Factory in Mexico employees 1000 people cost 7 dollars to produce the shirt and 3 dollars to ship each shirt. They sell this shirt for 14 dollars. Where there competition made in America produces and ships the same shirt for 11 dollars a shirt. Sells each shirt for 15 dollars. Well in this case Mexico plant wins, but add a 20% tariff. You end up Mexico 16.80$ while American brand is 15.00$. Mexico plant goes under and American plant doubles in size from 1k employees to 2k employees. Now for every manufacturering job in the USA it actually creates service related jobs. Such as nurses, waitresses or mechanics to name a few. So that 1k job creation actually creates anywhere from 500 to 2k service jobs. It's pretty simple honestly and is common sense. :)
What gives you the impression that Trump is any good at economics? He has engaged in and benefited from every thing EVERY SINGLE thing you and him are complaining about, wont release his taxes, bankrupt at least 4-5 times, sues everyone that slights him in the least...etc...
Can you show me the last republican that balanced the budget? Eisenhower.
The last 4 republican president increased the deficit.
Republican led states lag behind democrat led states economically.
So what makes you think Republicans are good at economics?

Trump is the closest thing to an independent President that has ever been elected. He is implementing tariffs and leaving ****ty trade deals. He obviously understands economics.
This has to be the most 1 sided simplistic view on this I have ever seen...
1.1 Million jobs are directly supported by trade with mexico. Mexico can just trade with another country. China is the prime candidate and China is interested. The Asian markets are huge.
China also produces crap cheap. So next we tariff them. How many million more jobs is this? And on and on it goes till we have trade wars everywhere. American exports get hammered in response. How many more jobs is this?
Do you know America has tried this before? What happened was American companies price gouged Americans because of the lack of competition.
I am all for buying American goods. But lets not pretend that American corporations give 2 ****s about us either.
The crazy part is more jobs are lost to automation than anything else and THAT is going to continue reguardless.
