What exactly does this mean?
I’m not playing so I’m not sure about the current formula.
Soldiers sent as aid to a chained province can prevent that province from losing specialists and elites from deserting due to overpopulation.
The first rule of soldier aid is the receiving province needs to be online. This is because you will also be loosing peasants. So the player must be active to prevent a total loss of peasants resulting in provincial collapse.
Let’s say for example you’re losing 300 specialists/tick due to overpopulation. If your kingdom mates aid you 300 soldiers, you lose
the soldiers before you lose specialists or elites. So even some soldier aid is beneficial.
This is generally a top kingdom tactic as their fighting style is based in large bore economy. If you note a top land kingdom with a couple of cows(freaking huge provinces), their shear size allow them to provide aid and regenerate quickly because the aid is less significant to their massive build.
I’ve borrowed this tactic in the lower size kingdoms but it does stall the development of unbreakability. Since we don’t have scale to compensate for recovery, we have to provide aid levied in our ability to defend ourselves.
Hope this helps a little.

thats generally right, youd had to send more than 300 tho strat0, because the 300 you send puts you a certain amount further into overpop, and thus you will have more than 300 desertions ;)
BUT i think there was a change in what % of total desertions could be prevented in this manner.
.... the only other thing i can think of atm is when they changed it so that units in your 'out' armies would desert too, and maybe soldiers didn't cover them, but do now?
Thanks.
I’m one of those intuitive thinkers so my math tends to be slop.

Thank you I appreciate the info! In so many words, if deserting from overpop, soldiers are counted first. Got it. :)
