    respect for Ted Cruz

While I don't agree with his views, I have got to say respect for Ted Cruz.

You is OK in my book. Now that's a guy who will point the finger to guy with the little mustache and say F YOU! Ted my man you've got backbone. You got guts. You do got a moral compass, and it points familyman first and foremost. You is a true to your family roots, who pointed the middle finger to the likes of Castro and said F YOU, you are a tyrant.

Mike Pence on the other hand, he reeks slimeball, nuff said. Mike got henchman written all over his slimy face.
Corruption is a serious impediment to civil liberties.

Cruz is not a good man, but of all the people running on both sides I have to admit he's probably the smartest and most politically capable.

In a sick way the rise of Trump is his own fault, for refusing to get in line behind Jeb? Bush and making an early truce with the Donald.

Cruz's father fought for Castro. Helped overthrow Batista. Was more like pointing a rifle and using the finger to pull the trigger. [Or maybe giving other people rifles and encouraging them to point it. Depends on which version.] He also immigrated to the US and then publicly apologized for raising money for communists. Claimed he did not know Castro was a communist.

"Vote your conscience" is definitely the right message IMO.

Oh really??? You may not like the guy, but Cruz was clearly the one who could have beaten Trump in a 1v1.

Could have, but he forgot that the big money wing of the GOP doesn't exactly love him, and there was a lot of #NeverCruz in the GOP; helping to unleash the dogs against Jeb? solidified the GOPe's hate of the man, leading to that utterly moronic 4-way voting strategy ****. Really the whole GOPe is to blame for their years of stupidity and hamfisted attempts to control the primary process through the most convoluted method possible, but Cruz is the X-Factor that really allowed Trumpism to gain traction. He really had to be ready to knife Trump in the back hard and come out with hit after hit to attack at his base. The attack ads he did run were some pretty weak sauce that played well to groups he already locked up, but failed to slice mini-Hitler's throat like they could have.

I don't know if that would have changed anything though - the GOP is a dying elephant and Trump is just the festering symptom of it.
Really the GOP needs to Learn2Rig primaries. Hillary showed you all how it's done in the DNC.

Good, its refreshing that a principled guy runs with a consistent message whether you agree with him or not. You can hardly blame him as 1/15 or so candidates because he didnt attack one of them. Fact is he was best placed to beat Trump, but the so called moderates and establishment would not back him for whatever reason. Again, I dont think you can blame Cruz for Trump and its the first I'v really heard someone suggest that. Kasich on the other hand was Trumps biggest enabler as was Rubio.

Cruz isnt a panderer, and he showed it this week. Thats why the left and media were more scared of him than Trump. Trump is 'malleable.'

Moderates and the establishment didn't back him because he was a hated theocrat, and about as uncouth to them as Trump.

Deep down of course, the GOP knows their bread and butter are the racists, and this play acting like they're suddenly PC is just a ploy to build up Trump's cred. Fascism is what sells these days, it's something the right has been cultivating even since Reagan.

I said way back in the Primary Clowncar that Trump is very likely to win the general. People underestimate just how much the country has gone fascist, and Hillary is really unappealing as a candidate. (For the record, I fully intend to vote Hillary and I fully expect Trumpist brownshirts to resort to intimidation, but I live in a highly Democratic area so suppression should be minimal - I hope.)

Don't ever expect a politician to act within the scope of moral behavior. The mistake followers make is dismissing wisdom because of its source. So Cruz is/was a communist but he makes a plea vs idiocracy. The fact anyone is a follower is a sad affair in itself. We should be independent and agree, not practitioners of blind faith.

I'm old enough to know the world we have now is a cartoon of the one we could've had. Most politicians are essentially salesmen who work for a maniacal cause. We can pick apart every salesman in the world but maybe once in a while a moral epiphany falls upon them and they must say the right thing.

Eisenhower did things inconsistent with his apparent understanding of the world. This, in my mind, provides the evidence of influences in our government that are not morally with the people. Call it what you will, but we're blaming ourselves for electing the 2 worst candidates available for either party. I simply don't trust the machine. I think it's both rigged and I think a path of coercion is apparent. I'm convinced we are deceived into believing it's our fault, but I don't buy into the self loathing.

Who in their right mind would vote for either candidate if it wasn't for the fear of the other side?

Both parties are tools to achieve the same objectives.

If Trump wins, he'll probably get another term and Cruz might be done for good anyway.
If Trump wins and screws up, Cruz can say "I told you so"
If Trump loses, Cruz can say he always thought of Trump as a bad candidate.

So if Trump does well, it doesn't matter for Cruz. If Trump doesn't, Cruz will benefit. It's a smart game.

Honestly if your not from the USA you can't really understand why we need a president Trump. Our country is in free fall and trust me if we have a president Hillary our country will go broke and splinter. God help the 95% of the world that relies on us for their economy and their security.

Trump is like trying to cure cancer with a shotgun to the face.

I don't like Hillary that much but what option do we seriously have? There is no credible third party.

You're not going to get an easy answer to the problems by just electing some moronic strongman to the presidency. A third party has to build a fairly broad coalition in order to dislodge one of the big two (or preferably, both), then start winning local and state races. Part of that involves a platform that isn't utter dog****. The Libertarian platform is utter dog**** (what, you want a 40% sales tax just so rich people don't have to pay income tax?) The Green platform is dog**** and can't decide if their ecology-focused or quasi-socialist, but they can't be both.

My ideal party would be socially libertarian and fiscally way to the left, which so far doesn't really exist. The Democrats are way too fixated on authoritarian measures like gun control and chose to ram unpopular social issues down our collective throats, and if they could just drop that **** they'd probably win by yuge margins.

Hasn't Trump filed for bankruptcy at least four times? Not saying Hillary would be good for USA or the rest of the world but Trump will create a lot more problems than he'll solve.

Bankruptcy is a tool used to make money in some instances in business. Trump is a self made man that has built a massive wealth and business. What has Hillary Clinton ever done that's great or even good. This woman is completely worthless. She can't even take care of her husbands needs. ;)
