May i please ask how religion is (an effort to) 'find truth?' I can understand somebody reading a religious book in an effort to find truth in the book. But how is religion as a whole a search for the truth? Which religion? The truth of what? In what way is religion seeking for truth? Please be descriptive.
The truth of supernatural.
As I said early in this thread, science explores the natural world; religion explores the supernatural.
How does religion search for it i mean? By reading ancient writings and thinking upon them? I think that is just searching a particular viewpoint, i can see how somebody that researches every religion and spiritual standpoint can be seeking the truth of the supernatural. But people praying to imaginary beings and altering their lives in accordance with ancient rules seems not too much of a search for supernatural 'things' in my opinion.
If religion is, as a whole, searching for the truth of the supernatural then each of them hasn't found a single iota of proof. Surely it is different for each religion, but reading the bible and going to church on sundays does not seem a very effective search for the supernatural. It more seems like follow the leader to feel good about yourself. Do Priests do research? I know they read books and repeat what is written inside to other people, but are they not just searching literature rather than life itself?
If they are searching then they haven't found squat.

The difference between a person that goes to church and a theologian is about the difference between a 4th grader a Graduate student. A 4th grader is by no means a scholar in the same guy that some average Joe who visits church every sunday isn't a theologian.Quote:

I refer to life as mother nature or 'the powers at be'. I am spiritual and when i think of life and what the heck it is, i think 'mother nature'. Do you mean there is one god and humans are misrepresenting him? God = what? who?
When you say god, do you mean a christian god, a muslim god? a norse god? a native maori god? Which? They contradictone another and can not be the same. Yes i am rather uninformed about most religions. If people are studying hell, and money and resources are being used, they should really take good long hard look at the merits of it all...
