There is a lot of work for them right now and while i appreciate that you would like your questions answered you must understand that they cannot instantly respond to everyones questions. The devs have been asked to provide an update on the age changes, and have indicated that, while they would like to do it sooner, it will most likely be tomorrow before they can provide this

Snatch = term for vagina
Throne = slang for toliet
So now you Spy on someone on the toilet before Reporting news on their "snatch".
You couldnt make this up if you wanted!

This implies that they are already chainging it to what they want which by definition means that it wont even matter at all what we say here. They are going to look at this thread once they finish, and as an explination as to why they kept the changes, not even bother bringing up the actuall arguments that people have been bringing up.
O, and as a side note, I just started uto this last age and even with my exceedingly meek amount of understanding I can tell you that this will NOT draw in new players as thundergore said the goal was. It actually made me want to play less, and i was really excited about trying out new race/perso combos.
So again, PLEASE prove me wrong and I will gladly apologise.
To those people who are wondering WHY this change was made:
You should not presume that the goal of changes is to fix known problems or make the game more like we want it to be. My guess, based on some comments made a long time ago, is that Sean and Brian are looking for ways to make the game simpler. We might not like that, and the changes they suggest may make things screwy for active, experienced players (who are going to adapt anyway!), but we must keep in mind that Brian and Sean's goal is to make the game more inviting to new players. I think they have an idea of how that is going to be done, and this is probably one step toward whatever new version they have in mind.
No, I have no clue how this change simplifies the game or what purpose it serves in that regard...but it might be meant as a transition to whatever later incarnations they have in mind. Perhaps they want to make the game so that low-activity players do not need wizards, perhaps they are trying to make it easier to play after having your wizards assassinated. Who knows....but I think the answer lies in their views on what makes the game more playable by precisely the type of people who are not on this forum: The new and the semi-active.
here's my opinion as well ... as for the changes do whatever u want to do, there will be always ppl who will like them and those who will not, personally i think that moving all gathering info spells on thieves will make them waste much more stealth than usual ... do not make many lists with many tabs which will require many clicks ... u already did the game way more difficult to play during the last ages, so if u want to make it more simple just make one list with all which will require one click and nothing more, now with this tick and all this connection problems it's been way too harder to play and requires much more time and the time is so precious for everybody nowadays ... so please just make some simple old school one click interface which we all will love and please remove be(dw/art) combo ... add some new bonuses spells ops etc but do not change the basic line, keep the races and the personalities the same just change their stats a bit ... and btw do some of the developers watch that thread and make conclusions or we are just talking here ...

In all the rest of the world, these words have no meaning beyond what was intended.
jeeeeeezzzz ... if u want to make changes then do them into the relations field. The hostile system is broken. No cap , make a hostile meter. Let the victim kd retal till a certain number of hits and if they pass it then get it to war. Now a kd can retal for like ever and the aggressor kd can do nothing about it. Also make the honor more important into the game like it was before. It will give people a reason to war more. Make honor easier to be taken out of war so when a player drive his way up in acres to be able to do it also in honor IF he knows how. And these are just few ideas where you could start from to actually work on the game.
All they want is feedback on the changes so far, which are all set in stone.
Personally, my feedback is BOOOOO. Really not happy with any of it so far... nothing to go into specifics about. Or, if you want constructive feedback, here it is : Scrap Halfling, forget these new changes (or at lease add the theif ops and keep the magic ones for now), and concentrate on race changes and/or something the Utopia public is actually asking for.
Now, knowing that the above is out of the question, at least tell us the changes we care about asap. Pretty please, with kittens on top?
FFS its a bloody terrible idea. I would type out all the reasons why, but they've already been given and ignored so I dont see the point.
And as for the new name for CE, pretty bad really. Need to change that, Snatch News sounds really out of keeping with things like Rob the Granary and Infiltrate. Very childish
Yeah seriously... the fact that it's slang-ish doesn't really matter, but it does sound silly. But, it is what it is, so lets just move on.

You want "Balanced" op names? You mean Balance out "Snatch News" with something non-vulgar sounding like "Heaven's Gate to Intel"?
How about make all the thief ops into mage ops and all the mage ops into thief ops. rename them all. Then make thief ops work exactly like the current Mage ops and all the new mage ops work exactly like current thief ops. This will keep it all very balanced - As balanced as its ever been. Bonus: You wont have to go back on your current announcements. Drawback: Everyone will be confused since everything is now in opposite places.

Talking the role of medieval
*Crystal ball takes a collection of statistic based on what is visible on the Province page. Thus, it should be less of a problem being that as what a crystal ball does is have a glance on the kingdom. Surveys take a Q&A take in the role of spy.
*Crystal eye however takes note of the actions taken by the Province. Thus records of these actions should be posted in some journal or newsletter in the province. Investigations take information that is found then translate it into what happened.
*The original Survey takes a look at what the buildings in a province does. However, this does NOT explain how you got Building Effectiveness from basically looking at it. Besides, Based on Pimp, survey DOES stick out from SOM and SOE.

As far as balance is concerned, I see no fault in this action. It's either you attack, cast spells or send thieves. So far, thieves don't go above the usual Night strikes and stealing. Plus, they have a higher risk compared to mages.
I believe what development is enforcing is teamwork and role balance. They are separating roles so people will work harder on what they are SUPPOSED to do. Also so that people will not use the same build for ALL the provinces in one KD.
