Because as Bishop already stated. Just because you wouldnt do it ,Many others would. Its way easy to abuse and works well the way it is.It could be worse and how it used to be where you couldnt use a sitter at all and risk deletions having others sit for you.
The problem with 24h sitting is that even if I can't have sitting again for a week after it would be used to simply get people to waves. With 3 days its too much of a pain in the butt to have people who are going to be 2-3 hours sat for a long period.
Then you will just have to weight the pro's and con's of either not logging in for 26h at all or having your prov sat for 72h. That's how the cookie crumbles.
If there was 24h sitting available, say once a week, hell yeah Id use it!
