OMAC's legalized cheating now, which has made the requirements you need to meet in order to compete even sillier.

First big mistake.

When a game goes from a peak of 140,000 players to 24,000 players over a ten-year period of time, you know that the person in charge is doing at least something right.
Seriously.

Most games don't even survive five years.

Again will it make things better if we ignore whats wrong and pretend they are doing a great job ? Everything ive posted so far about the other games they have taken over are correct .feel free to check the other gaming forums they have. This isnt the first time and probably wont be the last.
You can look threw rose colored glasses at it all you can but players in other games also tried to and thought the same.Earth got the shock today.
NationsStates had a new code being done just like utopia and when the new code sucked they closed it when it wouldnt work even with the money spent.
Anything sadly similar in this ?

They told us there'd be problems with the new coding. They said we'd work through them together. Hey, they're giving us announcements now instead of leaving us hanging.

As with any job, Sean & Brian are under incredible pressure. You think they want the game to fail? This kind of work is very complex & if it could be running smoothly it would be. Is not as if they've got magic wands or something.

Instead of doing the Chicken Little thing, why not think of suggestions on how the game could run more smoothly.

Swift : Are you seriously telling me that a TEXT BASED GAME is SOMEHOW supposed to retain the 100+k accounts/players that it had BEFORE the advent of more GRAPHIC INCLUDED games? Gee i wonder why you didnt give this magical solution to Mehul. Im pretty sure he wouldnt have missed THAT out of all the other suggestions people were offering. Even the most 3d RPG game eventually dies out if it doesnt update itself. Utopia fundamentally DOES NOT do this because we ALL like the ESSENCE of the game.
So no, i dont think Mehul couldve done much to prevent the decline of the game which was taking YEARS to do so.

You are willfully ignoring the importance of timescales and the natural progression of birth->growth->maturity->peak->decline->eventual death of ANY game (WoW DOES NOT COUNT FFS). Moreover, with Jolt taking over, and as VT2 pointed out, they actually had a HIGHER number of players to begin with than what Mehul had been reduced to. As i said before, from that peak, its going straight down. For their own sake, Jolt should be doing their utmost to convince us that they are doing their utmost to retard this trend of loss in player base.

I have to agree w/ slaughter. The code has been changed time and time again mostly without incident. So then, Why so much trouble this time around? More importantly why put out the new code and end if it wasnt working? The age could have been prolonged with a longer running beta on gen or just reset with the old code.

Sense these questions have gone unanswered, and the game is evidently on its way to shut down, I'd say the ppl who sent the last 4,5,6.... years playing are within there rights to tell Omac to go fall into well, get sodomized, eat scat and die. There is not much we can do to serve a constructive purpose any ways.

A peak of 140,000 players, not to mention that half of it are mostly farms/multis.......

Yes, I still don't see how all those angry posts, or threads more correctly since you seem to need 3-4 threads each with the same angry posts in it, would do anything else but to make them more unwilling and doubtful about running and developing the game?

Dude. You just don't get it do you... We don't need to figure out what started the player loss. We already know. OMAC has acellerated the losses and have done 0 to get any players back into this game.
Tell me 1 single thing OMAC/JOLT has done that has helped anything get better.

1/2 the players in my kingdom have 'disappeared' this age (or non-age) alone. THAT is OMAC/JOLTS fault. Nothing less. Nothing more.

I want to open up a fast-food restaurant next door to you, and serve you nothing but dog **** wrapped in foil, and see how long it takes for you to say something negative about it.

Unless I'm entirely bothered by the smell or the sight of **** as I leave the house every day, I'd just ignore it and eat somewhere else.

It's not that OMAC's food is bad or else we wouldn't have this problem and would just eat somewhere else. It's that their service is bad and that's why people are complaining, and degrading. And yet, complaining isn't the same thing is degrading. Note.
