I agree with you 100% but what IF it was a genuine holiday? IMO you should have to submit a VM request 7 days prior entering the date and must spend minimum of 24 hours in it before you can gain control again. King should be able to cancel it anytime but the province cannot take control of it like how current sitting works. For those people that go on spur of the moment trips they should be able to provide a sitter. Perhaps a new feature could be every 3 weeks when kingdoms receive 1 free invite, all players receive 1 free sitting credit (this way it eliminates the need to enter VM).
I am not accusing pew or agreeing/disagreeing with you in anyway. Just my opinion on how VM should be used.
Lol kicked out of VM. Come get some, Simians!
I agree strongly with this. If it is a rule, post it.
here are the current guidelines under vacation mode:
Quote:
Vacation mode temporarily freezes your province so you can take a short break from gameplay. Other provinces cannot attack you, but your own province will stop generating gold, food, runes, science etc.
Rules to prevent abuse:
1. Vacation will begin 1 day after you activate it.
2. It will be cancelled if you commit any act of aggression in this 1 day period.
3. You cannot end your vacation until 3 days have passed.
4. A maximum of five provinces in a kingdom can be on vacation at the same time.
5. The kingdom monarch can cancel any vacation that lasts for more than 5 days.
If you use sitting instead of vacation mode your province will grow while you're away. Ask a kingdom mate to help you out!

Players attempting to manipulate rules and quirks of the game in ways obviously not intended may be subject to deletion. Because of their nature, these types of circumstances are considered on a case-by-case basis. Users should avoid actions they believe are against the spirit and intent of the game.
You fall under this category Ovenmitt.
For you, this should of been common knowledge and i am more then sure it was. You just did not care.
But, for new players, it could be good to update the guide. You should have the time for it now and you know first hand what happens.
What i find strange and never knew about VM abuse is that it gets to keep its GBP moving out from it. But its okey, since there should have been a 24h suspension when moving you out.
If you also had used common sense you would have known all of this were going to happen, dodging and trying to manipulate the game like this should never pay off.
If i had not been persistant probably nothing would have happend.
Eury, some things don't need to be explained. . If you have been around the game long enough that you feel the need to manipulate the game mechanics to get ahead then you already know what you are attempting to get away with is against the spirit of the game.
Ovensh*t.. serves you right! Enjoy your "vacation" lol.
How does one know that Ovenmitt didn't actually have a vacation planned other than him admitting to going to VM to escape hits? Like I'm thinking in terms of the future. Is it just a given now that in a top kingdom if you're going on vacation you set a sitter?
Should we remove vacation mode for the top kingdoms entirely? Or is it a general rule of thumb that you can't set VM in a hostile? What defines a hostile? Is it Proteus' first, second, or third definition?
I go into vacation mode as soon as I see MS on me. Is this abuse of system?
Think about it though, even if it was a 3 day suspension. What has changed from 24 or 48h ago besides nothing?
:)
This is what I am attempting to address. I don't really care what happens to my province, its impossible to 1vs a kingdom, but im my mind the spirit of the game is winning, and I will do what I have to, so long as it doesnt break any rules (and this didn't).
Lame, mods made a mistake here.
Simians, you do know that you are creating a grudge with a kd that is stronger than yours? They might be smaller than you this time, but what preents them from taking revenge future ages and hitting you into all your future wars?
its what simians lives for. just let it be.
They created this grudge not us. We are putting an end to it. If they wanna do something different then make terms for future fair play thats up to them. Just dont expect Simians to fold down first. We never have and never will. Im a fan of ending this and create fair gaming enviroment in the future of this age and upcoming ages. If one or the other cant fight back etc just basic fairness applies. No more then 2 free waves at most etc. Dont push it. Let this be a lesson to more then our two kds. Its not that hard. An eye for an eye has applied here all the time. Play fair and get played fair back. No need for anything else then wars of gentlemen.

Utopia isn't a democracy with written laws. Bishop can pretty much do as he pleases I think....
The correct question to ask is: "what is the spirit of the game?"
In Ovenmitt's defense I'd also say that if there is no written rule, why should it be a punishable offense? This is the actual issue here. He broke no officially stated rule; other than violate the "spirit of the game" perhaps, but that is also up for debate. One could argue that the spirit of the game is to beat other kingdoms while protecting your own by all means allowed by game mechanics (excluding bug abuse). From that viewpoint, Ovenmitt did the only thing he could to protect his province from being raze-killed. If his province were any smaller, I'm guessing Simians would have had no problem razekilling him in the 24h it takes for VM to take effect. The mere fact that it takes 24h for VM to take effect should be penalty enough; it would be free hits for Simians for those 24h.
Now, another point one could make is that while razekilling provinces is not against the rules, it is not in the "spirit of the game". Imagine how much fun it is for someone to see his/her hard work being run into the ground because of a personal grudge.
And no Anri, I'm not taking sides. Just trying to find out which rules apply to the game and where to find them. It would be quite disturbing if rules would be subjectively enforced simply because noone can be bothered to write them down.
Ah here lads. Its vacation mode abuse, it doesn't even need explaining. Its the same as win trading and 100000 other things you aren't allowed do in every game that exists. A bit of cop on would go a long way.
IF this had been a new player maybe it could been understandable. This is Ovenmitt, he has good in depth understanding of this game regarding rules and mechanics and all round more or less. I agree, it should be stated better under the rules or in the wiki, its not atm. But thats not a reason for a well known player to abuse the system. You dont need much game understanding to know what you do is wrong. If it feels borderline it is more then likely wrong to do it and its worth checking up sources here or anywhere else. I am pretty sure there was people even in Pewpew that advised Ovenmitt not to do this, but he is not the type that would listen to this unless some leader tells him off, even then it would be hard to stop him. Point is, there is more players in the KD of pewpew and its not exactly a ghetto. They know exactly what they are doing and what is okey and what is not okey to do.
But, like i said, it should be written down in rules or wiki.
He should have reset....

Imo its pretty clear to me, he did use vacation to avoid hits and that is not as intended.
WRONG
VM's only purpose is to make sure you don't get hit while you can't play for any kind of reason. I can say I need to take a 2 day dump and setup VM. It would mean I'd have to hold back the turd for 24h but then I'd get quality time on the crapper without having to worry that my province gets beat to **** while I'm not there.
Edit 1: ...hmmm...noticed a lot of toilet...****...turd there...
Edit 2: Manipulation is subjective
The name itself already implies what it supose to be used for. VACATION <- see. Its even in the guide.
" Vacation Mode
Suspend your province from suffering attacks and decay while on vacation." <- See WHILE ON VACATION and you're not on vacation if you want to 2 day dump.
Since when does Bishop call people 'lads'? I think Bishop's account has been hacked by someone pretending to be Scottish(Irish?)!
kiss him, he's irish.........
there is no gray area here people...what ovensh*t did was wrong; there is precedent set already and he knew it was wrong. Appropriate action was taken by the administrator of the game, whom you do not get to argue with. As korp implied, he is lucky that he did not simply get deleted. Bend over and take your beating or trade out of pewpew oven.
