I didnt see you come and cry when CR won one of their age with 0 wars as well? FS has really dropped their standards I see! If you cannot be smart, act dumb and cry :D

Imo it also comes down to way of playing, you choose who you want to give land and who will have to fight you for it.
It doesn't have to be that almost every kd pays tax, thats their choice. I dislike the idea that kds won't challenge a-bit-bigger opponent just bcuz they don't have sure victory in their hand, everyone knows that that lead slowly builds up and that yr 10 when top dog has sci/wpa/land its near impossible to beat them so why not challenge them early, screw their plans make them work it, don't aim for flawless victory, basically if u entangle them in a fight where they can at best look for ww bonus for min time war that is not so good deal for them bcuz other challenger will wait for them and they won't have so much resources to build on.
Anyhow, I'd propose to shorten the age to 8 weeks and to have like 6 ages per year. Change pace of the game, if its general consensus that a kd who gets good early lead is in very favourable position to crown, at least this would give more incentive for other kds to war/challenge top dog as age is shorter and if they fail they won't be stuck waiting yr 14-17 to restart.
Hmm sorry but first of all I wasn't here last age (or whenever that happened with CR) and also I'm not part of FS or Emeriti lol. Just a member of community being bit disappointed at so claiming #1 kd running from a war vs contender while having 20k acres more and whole age of doing nothing but taxing and pumping sci
I'm going to say again that the gains curve is broken and makes winning wars against larger kingdoms nigh impossible. With a good start and proper diplomacy/timing of ceasefires, it is indeed easy to bully smaller kingdoms into a bad position. Gettling a lucky war to catch up can make the difference, but it's a hugely uphill battle.
This has been the case in every age since I've started playing again; this age is no different. We can complain about it, but what should be changed in the mechanics to balance it? Or is it just a problem of not enough players and kingdoms?
Clearly the answer isn't just "beat the larger kingdom" or that strategy would be tried more. It's not like the leaders of top kingdoms are incompetent; we can recognize an unwinnable war when we see one.
