orc sage is poor combo
at the VERY top level NS > kidnap, but for the majority of kingdoms, kidnap is just as worthwhile (if not more) than NS, especially at the start of war
reason is u have to be skilled enough to fully utilize NS and active enough to take advantage of it. most kds THINKS they have wat it takes to do NS, but again they really dont. usually they end up giving the opponent too much time to retrain, or dont NS hard enough to open them up, and then end up trashing their own tpa.
waheed is a wise guy
So Waheed, how should NS be utilised?
1. Is the best combo to NS then chain immediately?
Or to wait out a bit (while keeping him drained of soldiers for retraining) so he regains some peasants, and worsens the overpop process later?
2. Is it also important to NS within a small time window (like chaining)?
Or is it fine to preset a target as NS target for a monitored time period of 12-24 hours.
3. Would you ever NS to kill offense, then leave the target unchained? Until a certain max gains if the opportunity arises.
Say an orc with 1 tpa 0 WT, but 80 opa. How bout DE with spec off?
4.5 Day war. UD suiciders. Most of our provinces have little to no def at home, same with theirs. 3 of their provinces have "0" def at home when army is out.
Actions against enemy
Total Attacks Made: 405 (30,897 acres)
Trad. March 350 (29,324 acres)
Plunder 1
Raze 28 (1,469 acres)
Failed attack 24 (failed 5.9%)
Conquest 2 (104 acres)
Actions from enemy
Total Attacks Made: 395 (29,326 acres)
Trad. March 326 (26,653 acres)
Raze 41 (2,380 acres)
Failed attack 25 (failed 6.3%)
Ambush 3 (293 acres)
Should we keep going. 5 of their provinces are 250K networth. Only 1 province in our KD who is 220K. Rest of the KD is around 1200-1500 with about 7 or 8 under 1K.
UD suiciders + 2 Orcs VS UD suiciders + 1 Elf and 2 Orcs
Them VS Us
To preface, NS is usually for opening up an unbreakable to be chained down, or weakening someone down to double-multi tap range to make chaining easier
1. Opening an unbreakable may not happen right away, making it a gradual process so you won't be hitting right away, maybe on your next round of attacks. For multi taps, you want to do immediately for obvious reasons.
2. It really depends. On one hand, if you start NSing too early, your enemy may aid, swap monarchy, etc. to prepare for the onslaught and derail your plans. Conversely, if you wait til the moment of truth, you may fall short, also ruining your plans. Hence, you need to gauge your NS target against your own kd abilities, and pick the correct option.
3. NS-ing to kill offense is a weak play when you can just chain a threat like that right off the bat, since NS takes away both offense and defense now.
That was my opinion of it too. Unless we can start dealing out some serious blows and taking alot more acres than them, but it doesnt seem like it. Too many attacks and when their attackers are sitting on 0 def at home and still quad tapping because they have 60-75K off is ridiculous.
jobo, not sure wads your level of play, but its possible to get rid of those 0 def undeads if they are not perpetual army in/army out standard.
raze and keep them at 200 acres while their army is out. Then try to match the timing of some of your own army to their army just b4 they come home. When their army returns, they shud bring back 100+ acres, while having 5-10k of leet def. Raze them right then. I would gladly wait ~30 mins to do a triple raze and get rid of 30-50k off.
no Dlaf, that won't do anything. please, just sit and wait for waheed to tell you about NS
i have overpopped my fair share of 0 def targets this age...
considering jobolob's KD didnt do much razes, Raze 28 (1,469 acres), i bet they have enough peasants to send them into overpop.
Then they can either stupidly wait out while their offense slowly deserts, during which u continue razing to 200, or smartly release offense.
the minimum off they will keep is ~20k, at 200 acres. certainly much less than the 65-70k jobolob is facing now.
Dlaf,
in the simple scenario, if u can crack open an unbreakable or NS someone down to double tap range immediately, then definitely go for it right away before they pump their defense back
other than that, if u r just aiming to weaken ur enemies, then u have to also keep an eye on their ability to retrain. for example if u only have one gnome NSing a human at max pop and 50% draft, most likely they will train back MUCH faster than u can NS. so basically u wanna make sure whatever u kill stays dead and make ur NS count.
for me i always go for economy first, using fireball/kidnap and semi chains to destroy enemy kd's income (riot/greed/ms blanket are not NEARLY enough by my standards). that way u seriously cripple their ability to send dragons and pumping unbreakables. after that i pump my own unbreakables, and use NS to either lower enemy's highest offense (to make it more easy to pump unbreakables) or spam NS on their mid-range to weaken them and let our mid-range outgrow them (we do it by using unbreakables to spam massacre to get them to like 0.2tpa and then spam NS with our heavy attackers)
of course with the old raze being brought back u probably wont need to spam massacre anymore and economy matters slightly less than before, but the idea is still very similar
and jobo forget about the 0 defense undeads, they are not gonna win the war. start focusing ur attention on ur enemy's big provs, THEY are the ones that will decide the outcome
but honestly if ur enemy got 5 250k provs and u only got one then u have no chance. of course im assuming both kds are somewhat skilled and those big provs are all active and follow orders
runts will always continue to get theirs, devoting resources for them is silly. however, at this point you pretty much just need to move on.
