no one is saying that at the time it wasn't the best move to make. It was. Cheating was getting out of hand and tools to prevent it were limited.
no one is saying it is impossible to play like this, you can, it's just inconvenient.
from a business standpoint "this is good enough" is not what you want to look for. If your goal is to grow a business everything has to be as perfect as you can get it. And with the current tools out there now. this isn't even close to perfect.
If for example you advertise and a group of college kids decide, "hey, let's try this one", and then they find out they are limited in their inetractions because they happen to be on the same IP..what would entice them to stay rather than just say, oh well we'll find a game we can all play together without limits?
Younger players are your biggest market as far as computer games. While us older players may keep the lights on you need growth to make it profitable. And when the game can be profitable we can have nice new things, so it should be in everyone's best interest.
