WAR ARTICLE: Genki fail in their Confections bid

This was simply a matter of a kingdom looking for war, which Genki na Shinwa had been. They had been looking for several days and not having had much luck, decided to semi massacre wave Confections. While Genki na Shinwa were looking for war, Confections were in the process of sorting out inactives. However, they were a bit bored and although having a couple of province issues with one showing inactive and the other in VM, Confections decided to go to war and duly pushed the button.

April 9 of YR11 We have declared WAR on Genki na Shinwa -Stay out plz-!

At the start of the war, Genki na Shinwa were also dealing with a province in VM and had another province go inactive. With both kingdoms dealing with players going inactive and each having a province in vacation mode they just got down with business and looked to have a good war. Confections followed a very conventional strategy, they NSed before chaining provinces down to 500 acres and moved onto the other targets whilst focusing on keeping previously chained targets down. Their first focus for NS and chains were those provinces in Genki na Shinwa that had the highest mod offence and were the biggest threats to their unbreakable provinces.

The plan for Genki na Shinwa was to control the middle ground of the war. They knew that Confections had three unbreakable provinces and had decided that if they could control the middle provinces of Confections they would get their win. While they focused on chaining the middle sized provinces they also focused on trying to Fireball and use other econ ops to control the unbreakable provinces in Confections. The overall aim behind this plan was to grow their own provinces large enough so that they could try and break the unbreakable provinces but this was countered by the fact that the large provinces in Genki na Shinwa could not turtle and Confections made sure to hit the provinces that were getting large enough to pose a threat to their unbreakables. They also used their unbreakables to massacre those in Genki na Shinwa that could op and hurt them along with AWing the mystic provinces of Genki na Shinwa.

As the war developed, Confections were able to get four unbreakables along with pumping up a few other provinces in order to try and make them unbreakable as well. It was at this stage Genkni na Shinwa decided that the best course of action was to max gain wave before pulling out of the war, giving Confections the win.

February 15 of YR12 Genki na Shinwa -Stay out plz- has withdrawn from war. Our people rejoice at our victory!

On a site note, the monarch of Genki na Shinwa wished to raise a point with an issue on provinces abandoning and those coming and going in and out of protection/vacation mode in Confections. Genki na Shinwa had massacred one of the undead mystics who then duly abandoned before the same province showed up again in protection/vacation mode. After the initial wave the human province in Confections that had been in VM came out of VM and joined the war. The overall point of this being raised was that Glorianna, monarch of Genki na Shinwa, felt it was very strange and it meant they had then wasted hits, which could have been better used elsewhere.

Point of fairness, they also PKed one of our provs, which BTW does not show up at all in the KD News, developers may want to look into why at some point.

This is a perfect example of war not being about acres for all the other kds that insist it is. Our withdrawal had very little to do with acres.

That said, despite any rumblings on the war forums, nice war Confections. Hopefully we'll meet up again =]

I'm confused, why is massacring an undead mystic and having them abandon and come back in protection not good? That's pretty much as good of a disable as you can get.

Also point of clarification, it was an undead province that came back out of VM and Genki Na Shinwa also had a avian come back at the same time. I can see coming back mid-war is a bit weird but what are you going to do, make them sit out if they are back from vacation? And since they were roughly the same size I don't think it affected much anyway.

But good fun war, good article, and I didn't get chained for once which was a nice change.

We were dealing with inactives too - in fact we had our second biggest province absent for the 1st 5 days of hostilitities/war and then we had an inactive dwarf farm.

So why do Lotus' inactive deserve a mention and not ours?

After we waved your undead province abandoned and went into VM - since the abandonment was going to happen regardless we could have used our attacks elsewhere. Apparently you didn't have some one lined up right away - don't see how the province would have been present during war anyway...

So your kd essentially switched a fresh province for a not-so-fresh one. So for us, yes, it was wasted attacks, and I'm simply stating it as such. The biggest issue for us was our inactive.

Our avian didn't come back mid-war - you pulled that value w/o out of thin air. It came back on the 4th day of war. The war was five days. Did I mention we also had a 270 k inactive farm?

You guys did a good job - but this was by no means a stellar war in terms of activity for us either so there is no need to play the we were inactive but we still won card.

Oh I get what you're saying now. I thought you were talking about during the war instead of before. Yeah you're right, the province you massacre waved before the war abandoned and the a province came back from VM (both due to outside circumstances). I get how that can be annoying, but at the same time you still gave us the button after all that so meh. I do get how that's annoying though.

And on inactives, agreed that we both had provinces in VM, actings as farms, not at 100% etc. It just happens we were trying to sort through that before the war and that's why it was mentioned in the article I think. That doesn't mean you weren't dealing with the same thing and the intent wasn't to play the won despite being inactive card. Apologies if the article came out that way. Hopefully we will war again with both sides at 100%

The way it was going I think we would be looking at a bunch of pulverized provs and a couple of giants so far out of our NW range that they were meaningless within a week. Just My Opinion, I could be wrong. but would have liked to find out.......

I edited the article slightly to add in some information that I accidentally skipped over. I meshed it together with the prov that was in VM and the inactive in Confections without realising both kingdoms had a prov in VM and had inactive(s).

we didnt have any human province who was in VM prior to and during the war :) Also, you were 400k NW bigger when you waved us so your province in VM doesnt really matter at all. Our undead province went out of VM just hours before you withdrew and he only had 1 unique as you could see in the war summary :)

One of the people in your kd (I presume) just confirmed above that you did have a province in VM that came out during hostilities.

We are not bitter, or else we would have never done the interview. In our opinion this was not a notable war (while it was a uptick for us in terms of overall activity, we had 1 epic fail province and some nub or inactive moments) and didn't warrant a report - but I have no grudges.

When the article came out there was no mention of our non-factoring provinces - that makes it seem a bit biased no?

And we NEVER played the we lost because of inactives card - we felt we might have won if we were active but we are not making excuses. We merely asked out of curiosity how much had you guys taken from him - because at 280 k NW and from the SoTs we took on him we had guessed that you guys had taken away 10 k pezzies / 2+ mill, and politely expressed disbelief when you guys said you left him alone for the most part.

Specifically, one of you congratulated on taking down your "newb unbreakable." Sarcasm much? (Although I think the rest of your kd was pretty nice about the win). Someone else wanted the war reported (which we thought wasn't that interesting).

If you want me to qualify the war I would say it was an avg one where there was decent activity by individual members with some fails and the kd that won made good use of their unbreakable status and ops.

It was a bit irksome, but that alone wouldn't have turned the war for us, so yeah it was more meh than anything else.

I went into detail about the VM/inactive/blah blah situation as that was not present in the initial article.

No, you had a province in VM - we decided to try your kd since we were looking to even up the numbers. And we were not 400 k bigger - please stop exaggerating. We were around 100-200 k bigger- your kd was 1-2 spots behind us on the charts, and our massacres were scattered over 28 hrs.

In fact, I'm looking at trending history and it shows you peaking at 6805 k NW and us at 6894 k before the the wartime dip in values.

I never said we left him alone, I said he didn't have much of an effect on the war. We had provinces pumping 100k+/hr, what's 2 mil when we can pump that in a few hours? Yes we stole some money, but why kidnap some inactive with thieves when you guys had provs with 0.5 tpa and 20k peasants? My comment regarding your inactive was that he had not much of an impact on the war IMO and my question regarding our inactive was never answered :(...

We killed 2 provinces before you waved us, which may have contributed to these discrepancies but as far as I'm aware we never got over 6.7 mil before war started.



At the end of it all, sorry if me or anyone else in my kd has offended anyone in Genki Na Shinwa. I was just attempting to clarify some things. I hope we can wipe clean the slate and have a good war when we're both at full strength instead of people being away and such. Gl in the future :)

Thank you, but we aren't staffed by utimes. A few of our writers used to write for utimes though.

Is it just me, or is the uniques very low? I wish we could find wars like that. Our highest will have 8 in 48 hours. This was a 126 hour war and half the provinces barely have more than one a day.
Anyways, good article, and nice to see them. I like that not just the elite kingdoms are making the news. Nice job.

I don't get your point. A 5 day war will give you 10-11 uniques/province (except for Avians and depending on if you send all your troops at same time). Anyhow, in both kd's there were more then half the provinces who were above 9 uniques. Actually 14 provinces in each kd did 10 uniques or more per day. I still don't get your point, you trashtalk casual war kd?s, and what do you want to get out of it? If uniques are your obsession, go write a book.

So where you getting at?

8 uniques in 48 hours...? Would the majority of your kd happen to be running Avian Warrior with 15% barracks? That's what's required to be have those numbers, and the province would have to be literally army in/out. "Sorry guys - no time to pee. Out you go!"

Let's backtrack a bit. I asked out of CURIOSITY - more because we wanted to know how much of a deadweight he was rather than playing the "if it weren't for him we would have blah blah blah." However much was stolen, the loss was double because it's actually -x for us, +x for you. -x-(x) = -2x. :) One also could also factor in the missing attacks from his side if he was super-active (heh heh like maybe a early July 4th present).

I guess what I was politely expressing disbelief at was how much of a loss it was for us - because it was. You gained 1x, but we lost 2x. I hope that clears up my POV here. Nothing else implied.

About out sizes - I'm pretty sure we waved you guys after you were done razing. At the beginning of war we were 100 k bigger. Both us us were in the 6.7-6.8 mill range. I know were were unfriendly towards you, but it seems a bit unlikely that you guys made up 300 k NW just thru ops, as we also had a couple of massacres during then.

And reading your post, I don't think you had a question in there about your inactive - you mean one of your Soup guys? What about him?

Anyhow - most of you were cool. Sometimes there is just the one comment and a few wayward facts that stick up my craw and make me defensive. Not meaning to take away from your war win.

I never said we left him alone, I said he didn't have much of an effect on the war. We had provinces pumping 100k+/hr, what's 2 mil when we can pump that in a few hours? We killed 2 provinces before you waved us, which may have contributed to these discrepancies but as far as I'm aware we never got over 6.7 mil before war started.



At the end of it all, sorry if me or anyone else in my kd has offended anyone in Genki Na Shinwa. I was just attempting to clarify some things. I hope we can wipe clean the slate and have a good war when we're both at full strength instead of people being away and such. Gl in the future :)
