I think some Americans are shocked when they realise there are other countries. I've spoken to American adults who have said to me "why aren't you at work?????? it's 11am!!!!!!" -- when it's actually 5pm where I am, they had no idea that their time wasn't used all over the world.

As for ****ing up countries, "Britain" haven't had the most friendly past but that was a different world back then.

Britain should be the term associated in this thread. It's complicated.

overall i think we can agree they are both good countries to live in seeing as u can do pretty much what u want as long as it isnt infringing on the rights of others.

Being an American, I can tell you why Americans are ignorant of the rest of the world. Our own country is already very huge, very diverse, crazy as hell. We know the other countries have stuff to see but could not be as interesting.

Sad thing is: they are right. Since I had joined the Army 5 1/2 years ago, I have visited most of the European countries, and even did a tour in Afghanistan or as put earlier (pakiganistan) lol.

Ignorance is on an individual basis. Don't say American this or that.

In my school I was the Geography Bee and Spelling Bee champ many times. What I found about people is that they just generally dont care. Its sad.

I can say that Americans are very conservative and probably too religious. We always think we are right. And yes, our food is crap. Very crappy. I don't even eat fast food here, ever.
The World is out there. We are stuck inside Here.

i aggree here i seen a documentary about how 60% of americans cant point to the uk on the map

try watching sicko that one is about the health services in the us

at least in the uk we have the nhs even if it is in the news nearly every day due to that bug people seem to only catch in hospitals :(

but we have the right idea i think a taxpayer funded health service is what the us needs too rather than these stories of people not being helped becuase they are poor

yeah your health care quality my be higher than ours
buts that if they decide to help in the first place!!!
people dieing because they are rejected insureance does not count

because the companys say they are not withholding treatment but payment
thats just a rich mans excuse to let people die so he can get rich!!!

i can aggree with you there we have people that just dont care too

    i have a saying:

all children are born with a hunger and thirst for knowage its just meny children are allready full before they become an adult

also as they grow up they tend to care about knowage that has any interest in other word they only seek out certain types of knowage and ignore the rest

Also, knowledge that'll interest other people and impress the people they want to impress.

Example, for the Indians, they gotta impress their families with good grades and salaries, hence, they study really hard to get good grades and get into a good uni so they can get a good job.

There are laws against that if it is an emergency. If a hospital recieves a patient in a emergency situation, they can not deny them treatment even if that person dont have health insurance or cant afford the visit.

    Differences between US and UK:

-US it seems its okay to wear what you want just because you want to. They don't exactly follow the latest crap that came off an NYC catwalk becuase some bulimic model wore it 5 seconds ago. Baggy t-shirt, cuz nobody cares and they are not shallow.
-UK everybody is a sheep to the latest fashion. pink, when it was in for guys, everywhere. skinny jeans on dudes, everywhere. emo hairstyles, everywhere.

-UK chicks come in all shapes and sizes
-US chicks, you seen one pair of skinny bronzed legs, long blonde hair parted in the middle, and small bossomed chick you have seen 70% of all chicks.

-UK is a slave to political trends as well as fashion trends such as global warming, cancer, gun crime, marijuana and other such crisis, all spread through annoying idiotic media fear mongering.
-US only cares about 2 crisis: oil, and the dollar.

-UK has used masonry for millennia
-US houses are made of wood and are bonfires waiting to happen (even in non-earthquake/tornado prone areas)

-UK army defending its country is not when you ship your troops off to the middle east
-US army defending the States is fighting commies/muslims/terrorists/people-who-won't-play-ball on their home turf and thousands of miles away

-US government is a huge hypocracy. "we don't negotiate with terrorists." in actual fact they have done. Hezbollah is one example.
-UK government, like my own, is idiotic and foolish. But i guess so is the US for that matter. oh well.

blah. enjoy. oh, and when i say UK i mean britain.

Lol. Nice post. But I think all governments are idiotic and foolish. Part of the job criterion for politics. Most of the smart ones go into IT and business.

Haha you're right, another criterion is to be a liar or make+break promises come inauguration. Oh, and be rich + know lots of other rich people.

It's quite funny that people are so disillusioned that Barry Obama is any different just because he is black. I mean, what ever happened to equality; surely he is equally as manipulative of media + voters as a white president, and will break as many promises...? you know, the bill banning torture that doesnt quite ban torture... funny guy.
