When you get chained you often have 0 built acres. So when you get some acres in, just throwing everything into rax is the obvious move. Then if they actually come in you get 50% rax. Though there are other buildings like homes that can be good in this situation too.

As for "tax", we never discussed it prior to the fight which is a little odd but I guess BB expected to win. They did a 21k acres wave right before withdraw and we asked for about half of that back. So far no budge from either side. I was expecting to end the war at 200-205k but BB did well with their suicides at the end and there was not much we could do to counter it. Avian's always going to get the last wave and if you stagger armies to stop that then they just hit and wait for the next wave. Seeing genghis hit with -2 we figured their last hits were 22nd, wd 1st, but holding armies to stop faeries leaving 100k def just means they wave again 22nd and wait for the next wave on the 5th to wd. Could have done better maybe but not a whole lot. BB was in position to outgain us the next 24h imo (at the cost of us moving another 10-15k acres onto cows and elves, and probably hitting down their faeries) and if I were them I probably would not have withdrawn yet.

And flogger, I didn't accuse / don't think BB was faking it when they said they were taking the age off. I'm simply saying they are too good to take ages off. If you want to do that you gotta stay small, not keep growing. There's too few kingdoms for a good kingdom to do that without ending up at the top. And then you're forced to be active for 3 days before going back to slacking. But if I were BB I'd simply go into the age expecting to win and stop fooling themselves that they can avoid top3. And I'd recruit flogger already.

Sounds like a deal to me, if you publicly promise to change Binar's diaper more often, I hear he's been crying a lot lately.

Proteus is in charge of Binar's diaper changing, not me. I just do logistics so I could send you some of our spare diapers (got a really good deal on them) if you guys are running out. diapers4land maybe?

You'd literally do anything for land, wouldn't you?

Tax after a war such as this, isn't about being mean or bad sports. It's about keeping land from the competition. So relationship here isn't really a factor it's just smart play.

I guess this counting method is not perfect, the lowest uniques and hits must be non avian t/m's.

50% barracks sound a little crazy althougth Avian + Barracks is definally my pick too, did you mannage below 5 hours for attack time at some point with that or just ambushes and did some split up between ambush and trad march to go even faster when they reversed the ambushing army with the trad marching one?

I think if both kingdoms had chosen a strategy for long time wars the outcome could have been diffrent, but guessing the top kingdoms won't want to war for a week.
See, you know. I will point out that avians are best played by players that love them. This may not seem as important as it truly is. When you're knowledge of the build is to a point you "get" the nuances, you'll do things instinctively that a handheld drone won't be able to fathom.

As avian tac I could toy with other attackers. Raze, rob, mass, trad, poke and prod. When you face another avian tac it's like a ww1 dog fight. That return time is a luxury against others but a necessity vs your own kind. I incorporated raze in my early taps vs opposing avian tacs, or arson. I used arson quite a bit.

I'm nicer now and haven't played domineering attacker types for some time.

50% rax is about planning ahead. Looking At A Far Mountain.

You can't plan ahead on a chained province. Attacks take all your built/unbuilt acres before in progress (a bug i assume, but one that's been around so long we all get used to it). So even building acres is a waste unless you are overpop, because they only penalize your chances to actually have a building done. Of course you are overpop so you have to build, so what do you build? Well it doesn't really matter because next wave you have the same problem - all your built acres are gone and you have 100% in progress. If you have 12h or 6h attack times and can cast bb (hard with 0 built acres) then you can get some buildings in 1-2 waves from now in good time. But nobody has those exact attack times now so that doesn't happen.

Best bet is to build 100% rax and just hope for the best. But it's not about planning ahead, since your build flip flops based on the choice of the other kingdom in hitting you or not. You either end up with 50% rax on your next wave or (more likely) 0 built acres again.

Would be a lot more fun to be chained IMO if attacks took buildings in progress as well as built.

When I ran a human war hero in 63 I could ToG and accelerate build war spoiled acres. I did this when I retaliated kuhan for a Tras19 random: didn't know it was kuhan or I wouldn't have hit him. - Anyways, you guys, Emeriti, snatched the war spoiled acres before I was done picking buildings. - Funny because it's true.

    Bunch of damn acre hawks...
