More ambitious people are simply misunderstood most of the time. Not everyone wants to be the "nice guy" and do whatever the F they are told. If I had been like that I would've had 6-7 land crowns now (I'd have stayed with CR, crowned with them, then hopped to Emeriti as me + a good personality is a player any KD would've fought for).
Some people just like to walk their own path. I respect Matija, because he's the first one in the history of Sparta who's challenged me on stuff and actually provided good alternatives. He's also the first one to not constantly call back for me to help out Sparta. In other words, I have huge respect for Matija (as I have respect for you Bounce), but some people simply want to be more than just the "nice guy".
Crab mentality, sometimes referred to as crabs in the bucket (also barrel, basket or pot), is a way of thinking best described by the phrase, "if I can't have it, neither can you." The metaphor refers to a bucket of crabs. Individually, the crabs in the story could easily escape from the bucket, but instead they are described as grabbing at each other in a useless "king of the hill" competition which prevents any from escaping and ensures their collective demise. The analogy in human behavior is claimed to be that members of a group will attempt to negate or diminish the importance of any member who achieves success beyond the others, out of envy, spite, conspiracy, or competitive feelings, to halt their progress.
“The worst part of success is trying to find someone who is happy for you.”

Being the first in a kingdom of never haves is not an accomplishment. Here is Bart talking about his kd roster to flogger when Flog said he'd make sure no spartan played in the top after he disbands them:
So the only Spartan that has challenged you and provided good alternatives is the only one that has played for an actually good kd before... seems like maybe the issue is your roster and your failures as a mentor.

I have challenged my previous KD's mentors/leaders. They would have none of it because of the elitist mentality. I've actually encountered aggression from someone like citadela when he simply didn't understand my solution to an exploration problem we had. I wanted him to drop a few acres to drop under median then he could double up, a concept he couldn't understand or simply hadn't even considered because of who it was coming from.
Being the first is a tricky thing to handle if you have a fragile personality, it takes both talent and mental fortitude to last through the viciousness that is human kind sometimes.

I've seen Sparta in war 3 times and can say that my encounters with some of the core reflected good play. Bart does like to have control and was one of the reason I left in a very short stint, politely. Don't get me wrong; I like Bart but I have to be in the frame of mind to capitulate before joining a kingdom, like with Pyro.
Matija offers good counter points even if some don't like his style. He's apparently intelligent and emotionally durable enough to pursue challenges despite questions of loyalty. Might be his destiny to lead. I like that Matija is ambitious.

Bart is a great leader/person might I add. He's the first one to see through the bull**** that mediocrities throw as a smoke screen to protect their status. He's the first one to have my back on my path. I owe him a great deal and that's why I'm eternally grateful/loyal to him.

In this case it simply sound like you dont understand game mecanics, you dont drop someone a few acers to go below the median, you raise the other one to go abow him to raise median and allow the intended guy to double....... but sure he is the one not getting it....
I've suggested that as an alternative (or rather dicing if possible - don't remember the exact details 100% anymore). Although he was 1 trad march above a lot of provinces and exploring takes 24h, a hit would have been instant on him and he could immediately double up. None of the suggestions were considered. Instead we left EoWCF to get jumped by ED then the whole Pyro/BB helping fiasco ensued.
Not the point here though, just illustrating that I was new which doesn't mean my idea was bad - like BoH has said recently, discuss the things being said not the people saying them. Seniority is just that, I don't see as a quality that instills authority. Not to take from people like citadela - he is in fact one of the better war strategists left in this game, possibly top 5.

On your point about things said I disagree, based in your point about seniority, which I do agree with. Debates are debates and right is right. Discussions with parameters are dictates of respect. Thus, if the question is of respect it becomes something other than debate. With no moral compass you can't reach moral objectives and thus debate.
