Yeah, I M Pei, Norman Foster and Hadid (among many others) have done some interesting work in Singapore. It's all pretty po-mo or brutalist...which is, rather international. You can transplant much of the work elsewhere and it would fit fine... but that's for another discussion concerning regional identity and site specific design..Quote:

Oh no! Preliminary Holiday Low Energy Season is setting in. I'm seeing it everywhere I go. Everyone is tired, no one has much energy to try really hard (my weekly volleyball outing was pretty low key), even talking with people is getting hard.

I did! Bel is... busy with stuff. With the wife in her third trimester she tends to be somewhat attention worthy. He'll probably post tonight or tomorrow evening.
Bel's not a big concern since he's doing his own thing.
So here's the deal peoples, I was thinking about it after I posted. Basically we have 2 weeks left (I'm guess) before Christmas vacations start, and I figure another break then would only be natural. What I'm thinking is that we suspend thread activity until about Jan 3 (I think is the Monday). From the 18th to the 3rd you can post if you want, but with the understanding that if you are trying to move the plot forward, no one else is required to post back, so you may be stuck.
I figure for our goal we shouldn't over rush this ending to the island, so that gives us 2 weeks to wrap up. Then, during the break, people can use that time for character development or interaction on board the Dawn, and we'll move the plot forward again in Jan.
Does everyone agree? We can do this people!
So then...you wouldn't get to the next town 'till January? That kinda sucks for me wanting to join...but it's fine if everyone else wants to go with it.

I for one don't see the need for such a long break. In the past, such breaks led only to the death of the thread, and I'd actually like to see at least one of the airship threads make a full run. I'd like to see ANY thread make a full run. In all my time in Utopia RP I haven't seen one thread reach a climax, let alone a conclusion.
I think we should still expect posts on through the 23rd and again on the 30th, at least. I know I basically get Christmas Eve and Day off work, them I'm back on duty come the 26th. Obviously, if anyone's planned vacations, this thread is not a reason to forego them, but we should at least take a count of who's not going to be here before suspending the thread. After all, it jsut got back on its feet :)

I agree with Bel. The plot doesn't really need to be driven by holiday timelines... I'd rather not see potential character interaction and "downtime" [I.E. airship travel] be bypassed simply because there's the possibility of a lull in writing. That's a perfect time to indulge in small activities that showcase the inner workings of The Dawn itself. Mealtimes and mundane small gatherings provide the opportunity to delve into the day to day, rather than always focus on these larger than life acts of combat or intrigue.
Now, I think the idea that we should reach a point in the story within a certain timeframe (the 2 weeks from now) is good - off the island and cruising westward.

Seems all I've been doing lately is apologizing for inactivity. With the mill closing down I've been trying my best to get my resume updated and every day off seems to be filled with meetings with union reps, financial planners, and recruiters. On the rare day off in between I just have been so tired and stressed that my creativity has been near non-existent.
That said, I'm still around and don't plan on leaving. I'm stubborn that way. ;)
Sometimes it's hard enough to muster the inspiration and creativity on a normal day - much less the trying ones. Good to know you're still around, and goodluck with your pursuits!
I will be posting through out its just the last few days I have had little time to post (nothing to do with holidays, simply scheduling conflicts). Currently working on my next post now.

This is intended to just be for archive purposes - but if there are any suggestions for future formating, by all means I'd like to hear suggestions.
If everyone is cool with posting over Christmas than I'm down. I just want to make sure everyone is clear about what their availabilities are. I know I have a friend coming from the 24 - 5, so thread activity will be lower than usual for me then.
Oh, and Shari, if you have Phoenix have something planned you should let me know, because I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be doing something (like letting you stay) vs my char basically will not leave without you :p
Phoenix and I have talked in PMs about things, but not in great detail. We have a common goal to eventually attain, but otherwise our posts are not that closely coordinated. I think we enjoy not knowing what or how the other will post. Makes the drama more believable that way.
As far as getting Cyradis to leave the airship, your character Gabe will have to convince her, not me. I can only post as such her personality allows. If it were me... well, I don't think I'd be here writing on internet forums :P
As for everyone else, don't worry so much about interfering with the plans of anyone else. The whole idea, the real purpose of forum-based roleplaying is to write to an ever-changing story. Posting something to make that more interesting should never be done with "how can i do this without stepping an anyone's toes?" as the starting thought of your post. Just post as you see fit, and anyone who can't write to adapt can simply ask for a small change to whatever might conflict. That's the glory of editable messages :D
And for future reference, as long as it's not terribly out of place, I am generally happy to see something unexpected, such as Phoenix's character making that confession earlier than I anticipated. Sorry if this seems like a ramble, but I'm just trying to encourage more posts to challenge us all. Rising to the challenge makes you that much better at creating your own, and gives us something to return to every day.
