Bishop, you are 100% correct, it would not block every single person who is attempting to multi who is on the whitelist. However, it would catch a great number of people with minimal interaction from staff. My point is that you're not going to catch high level cheaters with this, but instead low to mid-level people and are sweeping up a whole segment of legitimate players in that move. I'm trying to propose a system that will both cut out those low/mid-level cheats while still allowing regular players to play.
If you think IP filtering like this is going to block all multis and farms, you're crazy. It didn't work for Mehul when the game was much, much larger, and it won't work now.

Korp, it wouldn't have mattered if I read the throne page or not. I would never expect a change of this magnitude to be implemented mid age. How many times in your experience has this game made a change this big in the middle of the age? In the years leading up to when I quit the first time, I can tell you no change like this was ever done in the middle of the age. Any change like this was done at the start of the age to get the bugs worked out before the game got to far into the age.Quote:

DHaran--if I'm already whitelisted what reason would I have to go back to that thread? When I signed up there wasn't any reason to go back there, I was whitelisted. Then add in the fact that you say the message said, "Soon." What is soon? Soon could be tomorrow, a week, a month or 2 months. If there is no time frame announced the message in essence is pointless because you don't give a time or date. In this case "soon" was about a month.
That's like saying "I chose Dwarf for +30% BE 10 ages ago, why would I ever check back for a change?"

The flaming rage posts were in vain yes, the thought out intelligent and productive ones have already inspired some discussion about tweaking the system. You guys should take note of how warfrogs presents ideas, even though people didn't necessarily think they were good solutions, he approached it better than most others did in this thread and at least opened a proper discussion.

Checking back for +30% BE would be pointless. To my knowledge Dwarf has never had 30% BE. I come to these forums at the end of the age to check on the upcoming changes at the end of the age and at the start of the age to make sure the final changes weren't changed. Since the guide isn't really a guide this is the only place to see what the changes actually are when the age starts.

I don't know how you expect to stay up to date with the rules if you refuse to monitor announcements and forums posts, especially when they are put on your throne page and left there for a month. You simply have no excuse for not knowing it was coming.
