Havent war wins always been land based? I think there was an age or so in there with the war meter that I think it was NW based but I have been wrong before, I mean ... I am divorced, but in general haven't wars always been about gaining acres to determine a winner?

What do you consider the most new player (easiest) to run attacking race/personality?

If you had a kingdom of 15 new (first time) players, 5 semi- new players an 5 vets, what would your kingdom make up be? Just pretend its a war kingdom

this is too much to read, im gonna start a new thread later, and setting some rules.

My father is getting old and sickly so please allow me to fill in.

1) If you can only log / hit twice a day is Av still best?
If you intend to be aggressive then avian is still perfectly viable. The 8/5 military is second only to orc and the attack time bonus compensates for the use of anon to prevent ambush. It has a significant economic boost with the 650gc drakes. If you intend to accept enemy waves and declare then dwarf is ideal since the defensive elite forces them to send out more offense, resulting in more plentiful initial chaining opportunities.

2) OPA / DPA or OPnw / DPnw
It would be nearly impossible to order your kingdom to train a specific OP/DPnw. Benchmarks are much more easily set as per acre, but you should consider the consequences of each races per nw capabilities at the start of the age and when deciding on your build/training orders.

3) A decent TPA / WPA for an attacker? Is keeping 3 to 4 mod to deter Hybrids just a compete waste?
3 to 4 sounds perfect. You wont be able to deter all ops without sacrificing more pop space than its worth but running 4 mod forces the enemy hybrids to run 20+ mod, costing them valuable military space. Halflings are nearly impossible to defend against because of the availability of compounding thievery modifiers, thus the need for watchtowers vs kds with a large number of them. There aren't any such modifiers for magic aside from the faery bonus so they need to run especially high raw wpa to be effective.

4) t/m's with (relative) lower mods of each and lower (relative) def or specialist thieves and mages with higher mods in one and higher def?
Think of T/M's as a utility province and don't expect too much out of them. A 7 defense elite is not going to be effective vs the inflated offense of current day attacker elites. Faeries are forced to outgrow their kingdoms to remain unbreakable in war, which works against the effectiveness of the ops since they are working mostly out of nw range. If you absolutely need ops, consider sacrificing a couple attackers for hybrids instead.

5) Bottom-feeding, why so much hate? Surely the flow of land from bottom to top is a necessary mechanic to ensure that people can grow all age?
It is a very necessary mechanic in a game centered around growth and interaction. People get mad because they invest heavily in exploring then end up absolutely defenseless as their acres are stripped away from them. They symbolically associate large provinces hitting little provinces with bullying or fighting unfairly.

6) Enemy tm's pre-war (or in a wave) - Raze, Mass, Learn or Ignore?
Ignore. Max gains. Unless you're honor whoring, you want the acres so the ops aren't really going to matter.

7) Chaining - How to best deal with being chained? (whilst it hapens and recovering once its happened)
I haven't been chained in years but if I remember correctly, your offense isn't going to leave until it gets home. Manage your population by first landlusting, then releasing defense and thieves to bring you under the 115% threshold as your army returns. Don't release until they are done hitting as they will just hit you more easily. Keep acres incoming constantly since they'll be able to continue hitting you with left over offense. Be online the tick before your army returns in case you need aid to pay wages.

8) Bank for mid- to lower- tier KD's; pointless waste of resources lost to bigger KD's or still useful against people in same range as you?
Unless you sign a legitimate top kingdom banker who can get the required CFs, it is 100% pointless to run a bank. You would be forced to sit on high draft which is useless for the economic benefits you're probably after. In turn, you could run a small orc province (like 300 acres) to plunder oop sized inactives throughout the age. Any half way decent target finder could fund a couple dragons before warstart.

9) Attackers getting own intel vs tm's 'wasting' stealth to keep them updated?
Attackers get their own intel. Way too obvious.

It's all about the acres! If you lose a lot of networth in comparison to your opponent then you are put in a position where you stand to lose acres in the future so, in a sense, NW also matters and could prompt a withdraw.

Undead as it cannot starve and it forces them to practice hitting and target finding to train elites.

They should all be attackers. For ghettos, the kingdom that hits the most wins. If everybody is attacking you will tower over the other 15 prov kingdoms that are half T/Ms.

I had neglected to consider the use of Av + Anon to avoid Ambushes, which does indeed sound very handy. And likewise using a small attacker to plunder inactives and oops as a viable alternative to a 'bank' had biazrely not occurred to me, not enough thinking outside the box...

So it would seem, which is why I was interested to get your guys input on things (as opposed to the wildly contradictory statements and 'nubbery' arguements one recieves if they post a general query of their own).

There's still a host of gaps in my UT knowledge (Banking & Killer Theory & Practice, best way / time to switch strats for Wiz or Sci Pumping, etc), but as none of them are particularly relevant to the level I play at I'll leave you in peace and not bother you with them.

Hi guys, I'm orc cleric in a rank 160-220 ish KD with a mix of veteran and newish players. Im the only orc, the rest are UD/other. I am trying to increase my available MO so that I can start off a war double tapping and plan to use my gains/resilience to grow in war.

I'm currently 1650ish acres with almost 290k NW due to being hit down recently but I have about 193k MO and 100k MD with 62k fully out that translates as 17k elites and 11k def specs at 70% drafted. my build is:

8.5 farms
13 banks
17 TG
16 rax
15 GS
8.3 guilds
4.6 towers
14 WT
0.5 dungeon

I've been thinking whether I should drop some banks/GS/WT/dungeon and run homes instead? I also have 1.2 raw tpa and 0.8 raw wpa so my economy isnt very good but Im really looking just for hitting power/gains in war and to get out of NW range asap even if my defence isnt.

Any help?

My kingdom is a ghetto, but a pretty active ghetto in wars, top 60, 3/4 WW.

My question is this: Since our kingdom does generally use the chain/semi-chain strategy early war, what makes a good chaining target. My initial thought would be a province that is either

A. Super Active (read as: attacker threat)
B. Running a high homes strat (20% homes or more, easy to overpop), or
C. Easy to lower their defense quickly for more attacks per person (ie no hospitals, not cleric, bad wpa/tpa)

However when thinking about this earlier today, I was wondering if chaining a semi-active attacker would be more beneficial. My reasons:

A. If they are semi-active they will not be quad or quin(cleric) tapping with armies in/armies out, so it will be easier to chain them deep enough to take them out of the picture
B. If they are semi-active they may not log into their province and take measure to reduce the overpop damage (so the overpopping does more damage)
C. A semi-active attacker will have their armies home for a longer period of time, allowing room for attacks and ops that focus on killing their offense off to make them absolutely useless (no offense or defense)

Can you give me your thoughts on this?

Thank you for your reply, however my question was not whether chaining is an effective strategy in a war. My question was if in a chaining situation, what do you look for in a good chain target.

Also, as much as I tried to listen carefully to your text response, no sound came from it. Was there a mp3 file attached somewhere that I was supposed to click? A dropbox link perhaps?

He doesn't look for anything in a good chain target, because he doesn't chain. Maybe ask in another thread?

Could you fix absalom?

Realest your mighty presence has inspired many great players to join you on various causes. You seem capeable of getting just about any player to leave there kingdom / come out of retirment and join you. Could you save absalom?

I personally can not imagine the alliance lasting longer then one more age. But perhaps with your great leadership you could bring them back to glory.

networth range won't help you in war unless you are about 3x the size of any of your opponents. IF they can break you your nw while drop fast.

You say, for the orc/cleric build, to scrap WT's and build GS and TG. I understand why need high % of GS and TG but why get rid of WT’s and T/M defence for war? how would you propose as heavy attacker (especially orc) to deal with T/M’s in war? Or would you just propose to eat the hits and concentrate build and attention on land grabs?

What sort of KD are you in at the moment? Are you running the show?

I am a T/M myself this age and know what damage can be done if a good T/M focuses his resources on one province. Next age I was hoping to be heavy attacker, Avian or Orc (pending changes). Been playing around with build strats in angel trying to find a good balance; and it always has WT’s. My main question is are these needed and what % if so?
Also in an all orc KD (lets say) would it be advisable to all run high GS and high Wt’s as Kd wide build? Gs seems self evident as good choice, but are Wt's all around to cause as much damage to their tpa a good idea? My KD is a fairly heavy war KD. Every age pushing 5 wars or so. Usually end age round 6mil.

Realest wears size 7 shoes, I wear 11 and that's that.

As for Versace, well she is only 4 foot 11, so it's all relative.

watch towers are situational and should be used as such, but odds are if your undead/orc/dwarf your going to be running 10% watch towers most every war. If the KD you are going to war with is running 23 orcs and 2 halfers, it is not worth the investment to run watchtowers kingdom wide... But perhaps if your the biggest province in your kingdom and hope to be unbreakable / expect to be the target of all ops they might be worth while.

Still i don't run them oow, and in war I would only use situationally, swapping 10% land shouldn't take too long.

Question: Realest, please predict in very fine detail what all the occurances and outcomes will be of this Dreams vs Rage battle of the titans.

Max gain strategy works fine, until you meet max farm strategy which I'm sure Proteus will be employing.
