After playing it for only 24h I can tell it was the right choice. Sages are extremely powerful this age, books per acre, cheaper science and more effective.

You're right, my province is completely incapable of science.
After playing for 24 hours I can tell you rofl.
Dwarf/Sage ftw, good choice, just make sure you keep sci investment high all age, like at least 30% of your income (except war ofc) so by mid-age your bonuses will outweigh the art's etc. and by late age you'll have a massive advantage.
That nerdy guy that obsesses with game mechanics.
Sages are terrible until later in the age. I knew this rolling Dwarf/Sage. Pretty much every other personality has an advantage over sage oop.
Tamer, it's a long age can't base your strategy for a few weeks of game play.
I think that's what he said?
By then people will be twice or thrice your size.

Greatest strategy thread/question of all-time.
It can be fun to be science pumped and not really large.
Well, what can we say, some like pop (shep), some like science (sage), some like buildings (art).
If you plan to stay small though, just some advice not to overpump science by too much and be too nw heavy to compete effectively. (Anything above 150% food is bound to be more nw inefficient than efficient for eg., optimal point could be much smaller, other sciences have different breaking points).
Uhh, there is little penalty for gaining acres as sage.
say you have 200bpa at 1000 acres and you want to take on 500 more.
1500 acres / 1000 acres = 1.5
So you only have to increase your books by 1.5 times the initial value, or have a gain of
(.5 * 200bpa) = 100bpa [given previous acreage]
Now that bpa value is inaccurate for your new acreage so...
100 bpa [old] / 1.5 [mod acres] = 66.666... bpa
now as book gains are based on acreage, that means that not only would it only take you 2.777... days to catch up (at 1 bpa per tick), but if you lose acres you will have gained 100 bpa 1.5 times faster than normal.
Just say "yes" and I'll go away.
