    Homes Really SUCK

Ok, so I suggested before the start of this age to buff homes a little bit in the BE department so that it can actually provide a bonus.

Let's look at the math and see why homes are totally useless and pathetic and needed the buff in the first place.

    1000 acres
Province A = 0% Homes 13333 Peasants (80% of Workers Needed for Max Efficiency)
Province B = 10% Homes 14133 Peasants (94.22% of Workers Needed for Max Efficiency)

    Province A has a BE of 90%.
    Province B has a BE of 97%.

Homes don't even make up the 10% loss from all other buildings.

So I suggest again, gives homes an additional bonus:

Increases your building efficiency by % * .5

If you're so concerned with BE, just be a Dwarf.

Personally, I don't think homes need much change.

A player that doesn't know better and gets homes, puts themselves at a disadvantage. A player that knows better will never get them. They are in fact a negative building to the casual and a worthless building to the hardcore.

Either remove the building from the game or improve them because as they stand they really SUCK!

This has nothing to do with my concerns about BE.

    erm...no?

It's a matter of understanding how to use the building. You'd be hard-pressed to find a good halfling/Faery build or an economic build that doesn't include homes.

    No, it's a situational building.

You don't run Mills all age do you? That doesn't mean they suck.

Try playing a fast growing avian without homes to boost your birthrate...or any player that gets chained and ends up with 500 peasants. Homes are useful, but not in all circumstances. There are no buildings that are useful in all circumstances anyway (undead don't need farms, runes can be stolen etc).

After looking through your previous posts bombdigie, I'd like to say: Don't write off what you don't understand.

    To fight math with math:

Province A has 3% extra banks. These 30 banks are making 750 gc/hour, and just over 3% more income. (After DBE)

Province B has 800 extra pes. These 800 pes are making an additional 2200 gc/hour before mods.

Thus Province A makes more money only if it's total income is greater than 48,000.

Also, you assumed all the buildings are "flat rate", aka impacted by higher % exactly the same as by BE. But most provs use a lot of land for DBE buildings, and +7% BE can easily be better than 1.1111x land allocated to the same building.

If fact, a better analysis makes homes look so good we regularly get people claiming you should run 50%+ of the things. Which looks great for OPA/DPA... but they forget about NW. Once you are taking all the other factors into account, you need to also account for NW changes, since it changes the "size" of your expected enemy.

Generally homes are well balanced. TGs are usually better for raw power, but homes have the BR bonus as a fringe benefit, and that matters often enough to make both useful.
it's vs. its is ambiguous - from now on I'm attempting to use the proper possessive it's, and the contraction 'tis. (Its will just be the plural.)
