    Romney or Obama?

Yesterday being Sunday, I met with two of my friends. One works for an investment bank. The other works for a music licensing firm.

The banker thinks that Obama is done. Not because he's a socialist or anything, but because the latest jobs report is now again showing what people have been saying all along, that Obama is anti business to the point that he's hurting the economy. And in his opinion, people are noticing.

The other thinks that Romney doesn't have a chance. He thinks that since America is still recovering from the recession, people don't see greedy rich people favorably. Romney clearly portrays that image, and has, in his track record, the opposition of bailouts to the automotive industry; an industry that is doing well now. He feels, therefore, that Romney is capable of making business decisions that benefit only people like himself, but not the economy.

Without going into more details, I'd like to know what you think about this. Who do you think is a better president for the next 4 years? Romney or Obama?

The thing is, they always portray what they think you want to see. I don't think it makes a difference in the end because the President doesn't make the decisions alone.
You have to take into consideration what the Senate is going to contribute.

This wont be a very good indicator of the result as I think outside of the USA Obama is much more popular. It is probably a lot closer within your country :). Obama, its just a fun name to say :)

Not a personal preference, but to figure out who will win the election, look where the money is going.

Personal preference: Romney is a toolbag of epic proportions, and the message the Dems want to push about Romney being Bush 2.0 is truth. Seeing as Bush did everything he could to gut the country's economy for stupid reasons, it's pretty clear who would be the better choice... though I doubt 4 more years of Obama will be any different than the last 4 years.

Sadly, everything else in the Republican field is even worse than what they're offering, and the democrats always find a way to **** **** up.

I wonder if Nader will still be at it? Lol, that would be funny.

Unfortunately, this forum is international, so it might not give the best preview for upcoming elections in the U.S.

Overall, I think Obama is more popular abroad than he is domestically.

Remember that the U.S. is father on the right than most countries.

I think the discussion is of greater interest than the poll.

    Whocares? They're the same ****.

I'm not voting, and never will.

Nobody represents me; the one that knows should be president, and nobody running for Presidency knows. Votes are meaningless.

Obama. Romney, and every other person the republicans have put out in the past 12 years, is garbage. The only person who could have beat Obama was Paul and the republicans refused to back him.

You're right. This poll is in no way indicative of which direction the election will go. And I didn't mean for it to be. I just thought this would be a neat way to summarize the outcome of the discussion.

Parties don't challenge their incumbents! I imagine back to back Hilary after Obama's second term though!

I hereby recognize you as the first person who posted it in the thread, though if you had beefed up your comment a bit (put some rambling in there man) to make it bigger and more visible, surely it would have gotten more attention and 2 people (well, me and the guy who replied to my comment) wouldn't have missed it :P.

Assuming that the Republicans don't grow a brain until then and present a candidate that is fiscally conservative, but socially progressive (I think such a candidate would have broader appeal with somewhat conservative voters who still live in the 21rst century).

The anti gay marriage, anti abortion and whatnot antics will just get less and less popular as folks from a previous era slowly, but surely, die of old age.

I'll give props to Harper in Canada for this: he's terrible and he needs to go, BUT... even though he believes in that socially conservative crap, he had the brains to remain mum about it (except for his vision on the war on drugs and the penal system and the Middle East which only resonates with a minority of Canadians, but overall, he showed restraint in expressing his socially conservative beliefs which is why he got elected).

Americans shouldn't be allowed to rule their own country given the extremism which is erupting because of ignorance, poverty and greed. Far from all are extreme but there's really too many to get any kind of reasonable rule.

I suggest you import some Germans to rule for a while, they are pretty damn structured and would fix the country in no time. :)
