SoM + Angel question.

I took a SoT/SoM of a province and recieved this.

After everything was said and done in angel, it showed this province having 10494 mod defense.

Im confused as to why he has more defense than what is added up looking at the army at home. Am i doing/reading it wrong or is this right?

How much mod def does he actually have at home?

How accurate is your intel? (What percentage of thieves did you send? Are you a tactician in war?)

I sent just under 50% for both the SoT and SoM. I am not a tact and i am not in war.

ok, don't send so much, its a waste.
For an SOT, send 20% + 1 thief for optimum intel
For an SOM, send 10 thieves.
If there is no army out, refer to the SOT for what to send.
If army is out, load the SOT into angel, then minus the army out troops from what is shown to be home in the military calculator.
Example:
SOT shows you that target has 2000 archers and 4000 knights.
SOM shows that he sent 3300 knights on an attack or multiple attacks and they are still out.
On angel's military calculator, you take 4000-3300=700. So for the slot where you input enemy troop #'s, next to Knights put 700.
This will give you a close approximation of what to send.
I would take their DEF HOME and times by 1.08 to calculate what you should send to guarantee breaking his def.

If his armies are at home, do i ignore the som and just multiply the sot defense by 1.08?

In this scenario, do i just multiply his 10k by 1.072? And oversend by about 7%?

If i get a SoM that shows 5k defense at home with 1 army out, do i subtract the elites from the original 10k def and multiply what i get by 1.072?

It won't be 100% accurate, but if you send 20%+1 thieves, you get maximum (97%) accuracy. Taking the defense at home given in this SoM and oversending by 7.26% gives you a successful hit.
The reason people often use an inaccurate SoM (use up to 10 thieves) in combination with an accurate SoT, is that a SoT is much easier to get, so by sending only a few thieves on the more difficult SoM, you run less risk of losing your thieves. Even an inaccurate SoM always gives you the armies away at 100% accuracy.

How accurate is the SoT?

97% accurate if you use 20%+1 thieves. This combines with the game's random factor to tell you to oversend by 7.26% for a guaranteed success.

If you have an accurate SoT and a SoM that tells you all armies are at home, you can just take the defense given in the SoT and oversend by 7.26%

If the SoM shows that some elites are out, you first need to determine their Defensive Military Efficiency (DME). You do this by dividing the total defense given in the SoT by the total defense you would get if you simply added all the troops in the SoT together (the defense he would have at 100% DME). Next you determine the defensive value of the armies that are out, by simply adding them all up and multiplying by the DME you calculated. Finally you subtract this amount (the total defensive value of all armies out) from the defense at home given in the SoT. Oversend by 7.26% as normal.

When using an inaccurate SoM, always ignore anything this SoM gives you for armies at home. Only use the information on armies away, as this is 100% accurate.

Just get an accurate SoM.

I just got out of a war where, by mintime, I couldn't get an SoM on any of my targets (I had to get help with some SOTs too). And I was running 1.7 raw TPA out of the gate. :(



Also consider TW (if the race has it). Multiply peasants * .25 * DME and add to your total. Remove from subsequent double taps if you don't get an outrageous amount of kills (as they probably don't have TW).
