It's not greed. If it was greed we would be taking acres not razing them. We will not take 1 acre of land while they are in war or out of war. This is not about greed at all. It's about deal breaking. If someone ever deal breaks us I would hope we would have someone to step in and help us.

We have run into both sides this age. One kingdom wanted to war us, and told us they were newbies like us and it would be a fair war. I told them I would ask my kingdom but before I could get back to them they had already grown 2k acres bigger than us without me noticing. They proceeded to smoke us in war, killed 3 of our provinces, laughed at us and called us newbs, and got 3 of my guys to quit the game.

This is why, even though i think sparta messed up, I call all these white knights hypocrites. Me and every other player in ghetto/war tier has to deal with **** play diplo from the top (and from ghetto/war tier, not like like they are all saints either) and if the KD that gets **** played in diplo is a ghetto/war tier then it's always "to bad, so sorry, learn to diplo better." But if the KD that gets **** played is top or friends with the top then it's "clear DB, you must honour the intent of a deal."

Pretty clear to me that the intent of your war deal was NOT that one KD would drain its explore pool and war you with at a larger size then when the deal was made. Technically nothing in the deal forbade it though. But what really matters is that the KD that pulled that has supporters and your KD did not.

Of course people are saying that your good experience with sparta doesn't matter because it would have been an easy win for sparta so blah blah blah. Well it was a pretty easy win for the KD that **** played them, obviously they could have won with out the **** play but they did it any way. They pulled a tricky deal and PKd a KD that was both way below their skill level and had never done any wrong by them. Yet they still have their cheerleader squad cheering them on and using them as an example of how wars should be done.

Sparta's mistake? We thought we could pull tricky diplo on a KD that forced us to offer an EOA CF after waving under threat of endless more waves. We had no choice but to offer the CF or have this bigger KD ruin our age. However they clearly did not meet one of the WRITTEN requirements of the EOA CF so we *thought* we had justification for being able to get revenge. This was a mistake because A) **** play is never justified, even in response to **** play from others and B) We didn't have the strength/supporters to back a **** play against the KD that had wronged us.

Another LOL at the idea that sparta should be judged and crucified bc how we treat stronger kds. Of course we should be judged by that to a degree, but I think a better understanding of the true nature of a KD is how they deal with those that are weaker than them. Mid tier KDS know they will get **** played at the top, but they should also know that the **** play is only allowed to go one direction or they will get GBd and flamed.

I would like to share an experience I had with Bart and Spartans in September 2014, which I feel demonstrates that he is an honest and honourable man.

I am Dracaena Cinnabari of TOG, one of its council members. Our monarch, Saraca (Shrinky)is caught up with exams and interviews in RL so I write in his stead.

Sometime ago we gave an invite to The Heretics ( then of x:xx who we warred having been given the button by some idiots in that kingdom)
Following our last war we lost 4 of our players 3 of whom abandoned their provinces to the kingdom.

The Heretics introduced us to a friend of his who took over Devine Trees province by invite
Saraca was approached by ingame message by someone calling himself Alexander who apparently was known to The heretics and vouched for by him, and was given Old Tjikiko province by invite.

On 24th January yr 8, we were not prepared for war and indeed had just sustained a wave from another kingdom and were about to go into fort.

In the space of 10 minutes over the tick into 1st Feb Yr 8 there were 9 Trad marches done by unknown provinces into xx:xx Spartans giving them the button.
No one took responsibility but subsequent soms showed that

The Heretics hit once for 76 acres
Old Tjikiko hit five times for 0 acres
Devine tree hit three times for 0 acres

The Heretics claims that he hit a different kingdom
Old Tjikiko claims his account must have been hacked into and that he has contacted you
Devine Tree claims he was sure that he didnt hit into anybody, but he was at his brothers wedding and was drunk.

It appears that there has been some collusion here between the three provinces in our kingdom and although I find it difficult to believe that Spartans were also involved - the speed at which they attacked ie. 11 attacks from 10 provinces on Feb 1st could suggest this. (although possibly they use whatsapp)

I know its probably stupid to ask whether the explanations from our three provinces could have any credence, but in the spirit of fair play thought you might look into the problem, and give us your opinion. I did wonder whether they might all be the same person. They had not given any indication that they were unhappy about anything.

I duly went as requested in his reply above to their irc channel, where Bart freely admitted that Heretics had been to see them several hours before war started and told them that the majority of the players in xx:xx were unhappy with the leadership of our kingdom and asked for their help in removing the said leadership.

He admitted that when the three provinces hit giving them, the button he thought it was a win win situation - they got free acres, honour, science and our kingdom got rid of a bad leadership. He duly ordered hits on the leaders and possible leaders.

To his credit following a post in the war forum he began to doubt the story he had been by Heretic

He spoke of giving us back our acres etc but I pointed out that was against the rules of war and could be classed as a fake war - so we left it that we would continue warring.

Today, both monarchs talked and fell out in irc channel - I dont know what about, except our monarch asked me to write to you again re collusion with Heretics, even though I did not have any copy of the conversation of the admission on irc.

Bart sent request to me to come on irc this is the correspondence that followed.

At minimum time Bart sent us a mutual peace which we accepted.

I have had no contact with Bart since this episode, but Spartans is one of the very few kingdoms I would like to play in because I believe it is an honourable kingdom.

Any honourable person/kingdom can make errors of judgement.
I dont think these witch hunts that have happened in the last two ages do anything to encourage people to stay in the game.
The people who jump on the bandwagon and keep saying the same things over and over are acting like 6 year olds in a playground.

Very good timing on this post. After all the posts saying specifically that sparta deserves this because of our history (doing hardball diplo with bigger/stronger kds). Now that people are in here saying we have treated kds that we could safely **** play with honour and kindness you swoop in to clarify the mistake with "this is not about spartan's history"

score another point for the hypocrites, bc your right this is not about history. This is just about the mistake we made trying to **** play a strong kd that had wronged us instead of following the white knight example and **** play the weak.

I dont think we should have **** played (not a DB, I will never accept that something that would be allowed vs a weak kd is a DB vs a strong one). I dont think its wrong for the kd/alliance involved to respond with force. I do think it's wrong to turn this into a flame war or for people to pretend this is about justice, when it is really about strength. We did something that is commonly accepted in UTO, but we did it in the wrong direction.

Talking to other KDs and my own KD mates my point of "we should not have **** played bc it was a ****ty thing to do even other ppl do it to us" is hard to get across when we have 4-5 kds oow razing. You are just proving that Bart was right to **** play and hard ball in his diplo with the top. Other mid tier KDs have suffered from top kd **** play, ppl in my kd have suffered from top **** play. You don't seem to be getting this so let me use a real life example to you. Person A Agrees to a verbal deal with person B, Person A then breaks this verbal contract and People C,D and E get upset and start to fight with person A about this. See there is nothing against the in game rules the same as person a didn't break the law, but what he did do was break rules between people, so yes spartans are getting everything they deserve.
