Pointing people in the direction of a utopia knockoff won't be tolerated
Keep pretending they don't exist or that we have nothing to learn from them. I've edited, hopefully to your approval, Sir Palem.

Who's pretending they don't exist? Lots of utopia clones out there. There's no reason to tell people to go check them out. K? Cool, let's be friends now

more about the ownership would have been interesting. is the rumor true that zauper and hawk made the purchase? what is the cost to purchase a dying game such as utopia? if they are not the owners. how about a little background what where they may have played, fav kds, ages, alliance and in-game nic etc.
Let's be realistic. Fogtopia is running something that has taken players who used to play in Utopia. If any understanding of 'why' could be reached that would bring those players back, that would not be a bad thing at all. Players don't buzz off to play a clone unless there is a damn strong push/pull factor.
As for new players, although the thought of agreeing with Pillz over something makes me feel well dodgy, I have to do it. New players do still enter the game and some even stay. The likelihood of staying will be heightened if friendly tool tips and a guide exist.
I think jmiedema is right, reducing kd sizes just means that the less productive members in each kd will be booted out and they will not have the skills or interest to build kds. Leadership is a drag.
Also I think that making any sweeping changes is not a great idea, the last thing Uto needs is a misjudged change that reduces the player base further. I still believe that allowing invites contributed to the long term diminishment of the game. Uto is primarily a social team game anywhere but at the top end or in vicious kingdoms, and part of the charm was making unexpected new friends from unexpected places.
I really do hope the new owners have spent a good amount of time in lower level but well functioning kingdoms, because that is where any player growth will be IMO so changes need to be made with a large eye on that playerbase, and this element is usually completely ignored as most of those players don't come anywhere near this forum. This forum is mostly just an echo chamber and I have zero idea how it could be revitalised, which it needs to be if the owners really want to attract new players.
Podcast - Benjamin, it's great you are putting energy into producing this, sorry to criticise but maybe you could consider finding someone to assist you as a presenter who has a more engaging style/presence? I find your podcasts very, very hard going to be honest, like sitting through the Powerpoint from Hell at work. Although you might feel this is a cruel comment, it is constructive criticism, and it could be the reason your first podcast had 1500 views, and the subsequent ones not so much.
The ripoff sucks and is played by like 200 plauers with 3 competitive kds (why they still p2w is a mystery to me). If utopia goes down that road I will quit immediately without regrets
TIL Make topia p2w and Bart leaves....
